Predicting Adverse Events beyond Stroke and Bleeding with the ABC-Stroke and ABC-Bleeding Scores in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: The Murcia AF Project.
CONCLUSION:  In AF patients, the ABC-stroke and ABC-bleeding scores demonstrated similar predictive ability for outcomes beyond stroke and bleeding, including MI, acute HF, a composite of cardiovascular events, and all-cause deaths. This is consistent with nonspecificity of biomarkers that predict "sick" patients or poor prognosis overall. PMID: 32506417 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cessation of oral anticoagulation in relation to mortality and the risk of thrombotic events in patients with atrial fibrillation.
In conclusion, in AF patients AF, VKA cessation is independently associated with mortality stroke and cardiovascular events. Specifically, VKA cessation independently increased the risk of stroke, even after adjusting for CHA2DS2-VASc score. Direct Oral Anticoagulants and Mortality in Atrial Fibrillation
ConclusionsIn this cohort of newly diagnosed NVAF patients treated in routine clinical practice, DOAC therapy was associated with a lower risk for death compared to no oral anticoagulation. NOAC Therapy Is Also Effective and Safe in Patients Older Than 80 Years -- Results of the Prospective Dresden NOAC Registry (NCT01588119)
Conclusions: During long-term FU of more than 2.5 years, this very old population of NOAC recipients demonstrated low rates of cardiovascular or major bleeding complications during active NOAC therapy. Approximately one quarter of the study population died during follow-up, with cardiovascular events being the leading cause of death. Only 11 fatal bleeding events were observed; however, most of the 58 fatal thromboembolic events occurred after anticoagulation was discontinued. Blood pressure control in anticoagulated patients with hypertension and atrial fibrillation.
CONCLUSIONS: More than 75% of hypertensive patients with AF achieved BP goals, and this rate was higher in elderly. More than 2 thirds of patients were on combined therapy.
