Fibrinogen-like protein 2 regulates macrophage glycolytic reprogramming by directly targeting PKM2 and exacerbates alcoholic liver injury
CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, Fgl2 hastens the development of alcoholic liver injury by mediating PKM2 dependent aerobic glycolysis in proinflammatory macrophages. Strategies that inhibiting proinflammatory macrophage activation by silencing Fgl2 might be a potential therapeutic intervention for alcoholic liver injury.PMID:37734200 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110957

Weight-independent effects of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery on remission of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in mice
CONCLUSIONS: RYGB improved whole-body composition and hepatic lipid homeostasis to a greater extent than CR in mice. RYGB was associated with discrete remodeling of the hepatic transcriptome, suggesting that surgery may be mechanistically additive to CR.PMID:37731222 | DOI:10.1002/oby.23876

Maternal obstructive sleep apnea aggravates metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease via HMGB1-TLR4 signaling-mediated endoplasmic reticulum stress in male offspring rats
CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that MOSA can exert prolonged adverse effects manifested as metabolic dysfunction in male offspring. Therefore, surveillance and management of OSA during pregnancy may be necessary to prevent and alleviate MAFLD in offspring.PMID:37730152 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbadis.2023.166889

Osteopontin-driven T-cell accumulation and function in adipose tissue and liver promoted insulin resistance and MAFLD
CONCLUSIONS: Current findings highlight a critical role of SPP1 in the initiation of obesity-driven chronic inflammation by regulating accumulation and/or polarization of T cells. Early targeting of SPP1 could be beneficial for IR and MAFLD treatment.PMID:37724058 | DOI:10.1002/oby.23868

Dysfunctional Cori and Krebs cycle and inhibition of lactate transporters constitute a mechanism of primary non-function of fatty liver allografts
Transl Res. 2023 Sep 16:S1931-5244(23)00146-9. doi: 10.1016/j.trsl.2023.09.006. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOrthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) is a lifesaving procedure. However, grafts may fail due to primary non-function (PNF). In the past, we demonstrated PNFs to be mainly associated with fatty allografts, and given its unpredictable nature, the development of a disease model is urgently needed. In an effort to investigate mechanism of fatty-allograft associated PNFs, we induced fatty liver disease in donor animals by feeding rats a diet deficient in methionine and choline (MCD). We performed OLT with allografts o...

< em > Erchen < /em > Decoction improves iron homeostasis in mice with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by regulating iron transport capacity in the spleen
CONCLUSION: Erchen Decoction can alleviate high-fat diet-induced iron metabolism disorder by improving the iron ion transport ability of the spleen cells to delay the progression of NAFLD.PMID:37712264 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.08.04

Glabridin ameliorates intracellular events caused by palmitic acid and alcohol in mouse hepatocytes and fast food diet and alcohol -induced steatohepatitis and fibrosis in C57BL/6J mice model
In conclusion, these findings suggest that GBD has a strong therapeutic potential to be developed as anti-steatohepatitis/fibrosis medicine.PMID:37714449 | DOI:10.1016/j.fct.2023.114038

Ceramide synthase 6 (CerS6) is upregulated in alcohol-associated liver disease and exhibits sex-based differences in the regulation of energy homeostasis and lipid droplet accumulation
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrate that CerS6 deletion improves glucose homeostasis in alcohol-fed mice and exhibits sex-based differences in the attenuation of EtOH-induced weight gain and hepatic steatosis. Additionally, we unveil that CerS6 plays a major role as a regulator of lipid droplet biogenesis in alcohol-induced intra-hepatic lipid droplet formation, identifying it as a putative target for early ALD management.PMID:37714377 | DOI:10.1016/j.molmet.2023.101804
