Conclusions: Anemia on admission was associated with higher mortality and an increased risk of poor outcome in patients with ICH. Sex-Related Differences in Patients Undergoing Thoracic Aortic Surgery: Evidence from the Canadian Thoracic Aortic Collaborative.
CONCLUSIONS: Women experience worse outcomes following thoracic aortic surgery with hypothermic circulatory arrest. Experience with the SynCardia total artificial heart in a Canadian centre.

Impact of previous percutaneous coronary interventions on the course and clinical outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting.

Impact of Discharge Location After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement On 1-Year Outcomes In Women: Results From The WIN-TAVI Registry
ConclusionsIn women undergoing contemporary TAVR, discharge disposition significantly affects 1-year risk of outcomes even after adjustment for recorded baseline differences. This might suggest the necessity of considering additional factors beyond comorbidities in the TAVR decision-making process.

Mitral valve prosthesis choice in patients < 70 years: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis of 20 219 patients
ConclusionMechanical MVR in patients aged less than 70 years is associated with a lower risk of operative mortality as well as a 20% lower risk of long ‐term death and 65% lower risk of mitral valve reoperation but 60% greater risk of bleeding compared with bioMVR in matched or adjusted data.

The impact of hypoalbuminemia on postoperative outcomes after outpatient surgery: a national analysis of the NSQIP database
ConclusionsHypoalbuminemia is associated with major complications and death in outpatient surgery. Since hypoalbuminemia is a potential modifiable intervention, future clinical trials to evaluate the impact of optimizing preoperative albumin levels before outpatient surgery are warranted.
