The Role of Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide in Diagnosing Asthmatic Type 2 Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps
CONCLUSION: FeNO is a useful marker for screening asthmatic T2-CRSwNP even prior to biopsy or asthma evaluation and may assist in selecting a proper treatment.PMID:37160729 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231173205

Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease and Nasal Polyp Phenotyping
Aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) is known by the triad of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP), aspirin hypersensitivity, and asthma, but its etiology and physiopathogenesis are still unclear. This cross-sectional study was designed to investigate allergy and inflammatory cells (neutrophils vs. eosinophils) dominancy in nasal polyp tissue of patients with AERD compared to non-AERD patients. CRSwNP patients scheduled for endoscopic sinus surgery were recruited in this study. Nasal polyp tissue was analyzed for infiltrating cells, and Eosinophil dominant and neutrophil dominant polyps were deter...

Effect of Benralizumab in Patients With Severe Eosinophilic Asthma and Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps: A Case Series.
CONCLUSION: Usage of benralizumab in patients with SA and CRSwNP can lead to significantly improved asthma control, lung function, and sinonasal quality of life. Additionally, in this patient population, there was a subset of patients that showed a significant reduction in polyp burden. PMID: 33302694 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Aspergillus sensitization and aspergillus-associated diseases in a sample of patients with severe asthma
Conclusions: The severe asthmatic patients examined had a high prevalence of Aspergillus sensitization and of Aspergillus-associated diseases as ABPA (26%) and CPA (26%). It has to be demonstrated the benefit of an early recognition and treatment of these diseases on the course of asthma.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Urinary LTE4 Measurement to Predict Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease in Patients with Asthma
Conclusions A set of typical clinical parameters has a superior accuracy in prediction of AERD diagnosis than the measurement of uLTE4 concentration alone. The addition of uLTE4 concentration to clinical parameters slightly enhances the prediction of AERD diagnosis, especially due to a high NPV.

Are atopy and eosinophilic bronchial inflammation associated with relapsing forms of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps?
Conclusion: In our pilot study, atopy, severe asthma, bronchial inflammation, NSAIDs hypersensitivity and high level of total IgE are possible useful prognostic factors for the proneness to relapse after FESS. The role of allergy in CRSwNP pathogenesis should consequently be given deeper consideration. Allergen specific immunotherapy, combined with anti-IgE therapy, may have an immunomodulatory effect preventing polyps relapse and need to be investigated.
