Relationship Between Androgen Deprivation Therapy for Prostate Cancer and Risk of SARS-CoV-2 Infection: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: Qualitative and quantitative analyses of previous studies revealed no significant effect of ADT on COVID-19. However, more studies with higher quality that explore biochemical and immunological factors involved are needed to confirm this finding in the future.PMID:35942555 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2022.37.e237

Investigation of the effect of meclofenamic acid on the proteome of LNCaP cells reveals changes in alternative polyadenylation and splicing machinery
AbstractProstate cancer is the most common type of cancer among men, and there is still no definitively effective drug treatment. Thus, the search for novel drug agents that may be used for the effective treatment continues. Meclofenamic acid (MA), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, with anti-tumor effects in various types of cancers was used to investigate its effects on LNCaP cells, a prostate cancer cell line, at the proteome level. The cells were treated with 80  µM MA for 24 h and a comparative proteomic analysis was performed with their untreated control cells. Proteins were extracted from the cells and then ...

Educational benefits of Internet and computer-based programmes for prostate cancer patients: A systematic review
Conclusion: The Internet or computer-based programmes had a positive impact on prostate cancer patient education. Most papers reported that the programmes were beneficial, but few presented data from studies with rigorous research methodologies to support these claims.Practice implications: Internet and computer-based programmes can be useful tools in prostate cancer patient education. In order to improve the benefits of the programmes, more Internet and computer-based programmes need to be developed and studied.

Profiling of Androgen-Dependent Enhancer RNAs Expression in Human Prostate Tumors: Search for Malignancy Transition Markers
CONCLUSION: Presented data suggest that prostate tumor development may associate with epigenetic reorganization in the KLK3 genomic regulatory elements reflected by changes of the KLK3eRNA expression. Our findings support a potential of eRNAs profiling to be used as diagnostic marker.PMID:34549035 | PMC:PMC8449685 | DOI:10.2147/RRU.S328661

Bull Cancer. 2022 Jan 10:S0007-4551(21)00681-0. doi: 10.1016/j.bulcan.2021.11.014. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNew generation hormone therapies (NGHT) is the gold standard treatment for metastatic prostate cancers and/or castration-resistant tumors. Four molecules have been approved: enzalutamide, abiraterone acetate, apalutamide and darolutamide. These treatments are oral therapies taken on a daily basis, which raise issues of adherence to treatment, adverse effects and drug interactions. Therapeutic educational programs for patients represent an emerging care activity that allows patients to acquire skills to better li...
