In Search for risk predictors at the microscopic scenario of a negative biopsy. A systematic review
ConclusionsThe MS of a negative PB may include atypical small acinar proliferation, HGPIN, prostatic atrophy, inflammatory proliferative atrophy and prostatic inflammation lesions, since they all seem to be associated with the risk of PC detection in repeat PB. This review has led us to create the hypothesis that the MS of a negative PB might be a valuable and useful tool when considering repeat PB.ResumenIntroducciónLas biopsias prostáticas (BP) de repetición, ante la persistencia de la sospecha de cáncer de próstata (CP), son frecuentes y su rendimiento bajo. En el contexto de una BP negativa existe un escenario mic...

MiRNA-215-5p alleviates the metastasis of prostate cancer by targeting PGK1.
CONCLUSIONS: Downregulated miRNA-215-5p in PCa is closely related to distant metastasis and poor prognosis of affected patients. MiRNA-215-5p alleviates the malignant progression of PCa by targeting and downregulating PGK1. PMID: 32017004 [PubMed - in process]

Nutrition Education Seminars for Prostate Cancer-Diet and Prostate Program: Evaluation and Recommendations (DAPPER Study).
Abstract Nutrition is important for prostate cancer (PCa) care as it may influence PCa progression and risk of comorbid diseases. The aim of this pilot study was to assess changes in knowledge and satisfaction in men with PCa following attendance at a nutrition education seminar. Fifty-two men with PCa attended nutrition education seminars instructed by a Registered Dietitian. Participants completed the Revised General Nutrition Knowledge Questionnaire (GNKQ-R) preseminar and 2 weeks postseminar, along with a satisfaction survey. Increased nutrition knowledge was observed through a significant (P = 0.023) impr...

Prognostic value of systemic immune-inflammation index in patients with urinary system cancers: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: SII may serve as a useful prognostic indicator in USCs and contribute to prognosis evaluation and treatment strategy formulation. However, more well-designed studies are warranted to verify our findings.PMID:33629300 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202102_24834

Scientists launch search for genetic test to spot killer prostate cancer
Gene-screening, as is used to detect some breast cancer risks, could save thousands of livesScientists have begun work to create a prostate cancer screening service for the UK. In a few years, middle-aged men could be tested to reveal their genetic susceptibility to the condition, with those deemed to be under significant threat of developing it being offered treatment or surgery. The service would tackle a disease that has becomethe nation ’s most commonly diagnosed cancer and would parallel Britain ’s breast cancer screening programme. Every year, more than 47,500 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer: 129 a day on a...

Why exercise has a crucial role in cancer prevention, risk reduction and improved outcomes
AbstractIntroductionExercise is one of several factors known to lower the risk of developing cancer, as well as improve outcomes in patients already diagnosed. People who exercise after cancer have lower rates of cancer complications, treatment toxicities, relapse and improved survival. This review highlights the supportive data and biochemical processes, which explain these potential benefits.Sources of dataPubMed, Embase, Medline and Cochrane libraries were searched for papers which addressed the effects of exercise and physical activity on cancer for this review. The search terms used were physical activity, exercise an...

Relationship Between Androgen Deprivation Therapy for Prostate Cancer and Risk of SARS-CoV-2 Infection: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: Qualitative and quantitative analyses of previous studies revealed no significant effect of ADT on COVID-19. However, more studies with higher quality that explore biochemical and immunological factors involved are needed to confirm this finding in the future.PMID:35942555 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2022.37.e237
