Shared decision-making for prostate cancer screening and treatment: a systematic review of randomised controlled trials.
CONCLUSIONS: There is significant variation in the extent of SDM implementation among studies addressing SDM for prostate cancer screening and treatment. Further evaluation of these results on patient outcomes, a standardised SDM definition and guidance for an effective implementation in several clinical settings are needed. PROCEE: a PROstate Cancer Evaluation and Education serious game for African Caribbean men
Journal of Assistive Technologies,Volume 10, Issue 4, Page 199-210, December 2016. Purpose Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the UK. Black men are in a higher prostate cancer risk group possibly due to inherent genetic factors. The purpose of this paper is to introduce PROstate Cancer Evaluation and Education (PROCEE), an innovative serious game aimed at providing prostate cancer information and risk evaluation to black African-Caribbean men. Design/methodology/approach PROCEE has been carefully co-designed with prostate cancer experts, prostate cancer patients and members of the black African-C...

Second primary cancers: a retrospective analysis of real world data using the enhanced medical research engine ConSoRe in a French comprehensive cancer center
ConclusionThe data mining tool ConSoRe contributes to access to real world data, and to better characterize patients with SPC. Expanding such approach to any comprehensive center will allow a global overview of the follow-up of patients with cancer, and help to improve long-term management and adapt surveillance.

Association between Albumin, Total Bilirubin, and Uric Acid Serum Levels and the Risk of Cancer: A Prospective Study in a Korean Population
CONCLUSION: The findings of this study support the role of antioxidants in carcinogenesis. Future large-cohort studies are needed to confirm the predictive value of albumin, UA, and total bilirubin levels in each type of cancer.PMID:34427064 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2021.62.9.792

Structured reporting in radiologic education - Potential of different PI-RADS versions in prostate MRI controlled by in-bore MR-guided biopsies
CONCLUSION: The capacity of prostate cancer detection using PI-RADS V1 and V2 is dependent on the reader's experience. The results from the two observers indicate that structured reporting using PI-RADS and, controlled by histopathology, can be a valuable and quantifiable tool in students' or residents' education. Herein, V2 was superior to V1 in terms of inter-observer agreement and time efficacy.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Structured reporting can be a valuable and quantifiable tool in radiologic education. Structured reporting using PI-RADS can be used by a student with good performance. PI-RADS V2 is superior to V1 in terms...

Rectal leiomyosarcoma as the initial phenotypic manifestation of Li –Fraumeni-like syndrome: a case report and review of the literature
ConclusionIn patients with rectal leiomyosarcoma, it is advisable to investigate the family history of cancer and perform genetic studies to screen for Li –Fraumeni syndrome.

Abstract 3722: Modification of obesity effects on prostate cancer outcomes by age and education
Conclusions: The results suggested that obesity effects on PCa outcomes can be modified by patient age and education and should be studied in the context of these factors. Inconsistent obesity-PCa associations among studies may be related to varying sample population characteristics. Identifying key factors that influence obesity associations will provide critical information about patients whose PCa risks may decrease from targeted interventions. This research may suggest new approaches for prostate cancer intervention via weight management, physical activity, and targeted education, screening and treatment for those pati...

Gene expression feature selection for prostate cancer diagnosis using a two-phase heuristic–deterministic search strategy
Here, a two-phase search strategy is proposed to identify the biomarkers in gene expression data set for the prostate cancer diagnosis. A statistical filtering method is initially employed to remove the noisiest data. In the first phase of the search strategy, a multi-objective optimisation based on the binary particle swarm optimisation algorithm tuned by a chaotic method is proposed to select the optimal subset of genes with the minimum number of genes and the maximum classification accuracy. Finally, in the second phase of the search strategy, the cache-based modification of the sequential forward floating selection alg...

In Search for risk predictors at the microscopic scenario of a negative biopsy. A systematic review.
CONCLUSIONS: The MS of a negative PB may include atypical small acinar proliferation, HGPIN, prostatic atrophy, inflammatory proliferative atrophy and prostatic inflammation lesions, since they all seem to be associated with the risk of PC detection in repeat PB. This review has led us to create the hypothesis that the MS of a negative PB might be a valuable and useful tool when considering repeat PB. PMID: 31109736 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
