Joint impact of key air pollutants on COVID-19 severity: prediction based on toxicogenomic data analysis
Arh Hig Rada Toksikol. 2022 Jul 7;73(2):119-125. doi: 10.2478/aiht-2022-73-3631.ABSTRACTConsidering that some researchers point to a possible influence of air pollution on COVID-19 transmission, severity, and death rate, the aim of our in silico study was to determine the relationship between the key air pollutants [sulphur dioxide (SO), carbon monoxide (CO), 2particulate matter (PMx), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3)] and COVID-19 complications using the publicly available toxicogenomic analytical and prediction tools: (i) Comparative Toxicogenomic Database (CTD) to identify genes common to air pollutants and COVID-...

Cardiovascular adverse events in chronic myeloid leukemia patients treated with nilotinib or imatinib: A systematic review, meta-analysis and integrative bioinformatics analysis
CONCLUSION: CML patients who start with nilotinib have a higher risk of CAE than those with imatinib. Atherosclerosis caused by the inflammatory response and glycolipid metabolism disorder is the key mechanism of nilotinib cardiotoxicity. Rosuvastatin may be an effective treatment for the cardiotoxicity of nilotinib.PMID:36426222 | PMC:PMC9678945 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2022.966182

Phenotype control techniques for Boolean gene regulatory networks
bioRxiv. 2023 Apr 18:2023.04.17.537158. doi: 10.1101/2023.04.17.537158. Preprint.ABSTRACTModeling cell signal transduction pathways via Boolean networks (BNs) has become an established method for analyzing intracellular communications over the last few decades. What’s more, BNs provide a course-grained approach, not only to understanding molecular communications, but also for targeting pathway components that alter the long-term outcomes of the system. This has come to be known as phenotype control theory . In this review we study the interplay of various approaches for controlling gene regulatory networks such as: ...

Efficacy and safety of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy in hematologic malignancies: a living systematic review on comparative studies
CONCLUSION: So far, assuming important limitations in the level of certainty due to scarce and heterogenous comparative studies, CAR-T therapies have shown some benefit in terms of progression-free survival, but no overall survival, in patients with R/R B-cell lymphoma. Despite one-arm trials have already facilitated approval of CAR-T cell treatments, additional evidence from large comparative studies is still needed to better characterize the benefit-harm ratio of the use of CAR-T in a variety of patient populations with hematological malignancies.REGISTRATION: https://doi.org/10.12688/openreseurope.14390.1.PROSPERO/OSF P...

PEG-asparaginase treatment  regimens for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in children: a network meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: We were not able to conduct a network meta-analysis, and could not draw clear conclusions because it was not possible to rank the interventions. Overall, we found that different numbers of doses of PEG-asparaginase probably result in little to no difference in event-free survival across all studies. In two studies, we found that a higher number of PEG-asparaginase doses probably increases pancreatitis and asparaginase-associated toxicities.PMID:37260073 | PMC:PMC10230854 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD014570.pub2

Clinical Research in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in Pakistan; A Systematic Review
Conclusions: Our review suggests that although small clinical studies continue to be performed across the country, multiple financial and logistical barriers need to be addressed for larger, more impactful clinical trials to be conducted that will help answer demographic-specific questions and decrease reliance on foreign studies.PMID:37629773 | PMC:PMC10456454 | DOI:10.3390/medicina59081483
