Risk of thromboembolic and bleeding outcomes following hematological cancers: a Danish population-based cohort study.
CONCLUSIONS: Approximately 2 out of 10 hematological cancer patients experienced MI, ischemic stroke, VTE, or bleeding requiring hospital contact within 10 years. The hematological cancer cohort had higher hazards of MI, ischemic stroke, VTE, and bleeding requiring hospital contact than a general population comparison cohort. Real-World Comparisons of Cardiovascular Events between Different Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors Among Patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Increased Risk of Lymphoid Malignancy in Patients with Herpes Zoster: A Longitudinal Follow-up Study Using a National Cohort Study

Central Nervous System Complications and Outcomes after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
This retrospective study of 351 patients, who have undergone allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation between 2002 and 2011 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, demonstrated 12% incidence of central nervous system complications. The most common complications included posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (40%), stroke or transient ischemic attack (24%), seizures (20%), and infection (9%). The 5-year overall survival was significantly lower among patients with versus without central nervous system complications (14% vs. 44%, p=0.0004).

Transient ischemic attack as an unusual initial manifestation of acute promyelocytic leukemia.
Abstract Patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) are prone to both bleeding and thrombosis. Both of these have a significant impact on the morbidity and mortality of patients with this disease. Here we report a case of a 41-year-old male, who presented with transient ischemic attack (TIA) and early neurological deterioration (END) as initial manifestations prior to an ultimate diagnosis of APL. Outcome of 472 Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Patients Treated with Frontline Nilotinib: A Gimema CML WP Analysis
CONCLUSION: Nilotinib as first-line treatment of newly diagnosed CP CML pts showed high rates of deep molecular responses, few progressions to AP/BP, and a high OS. Deep molecular response were similar in all age groups; as expected, ATEs were more frequent in pts > 60 y. Medical Conditions Among Survivors of Adolescent and Young Adult Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
Conclusion: This study found that sociodemographic factors were associated with the risk of developing medical conditions in AYA NHL, ALL and AML survivors. As expected, the risk of medical conditions varied by cancer type and treatment, with those undergoing SCT having a higher risk of medical conditions regardless of cancer type. Outcome of Patients with Relapsed/Refractory (R/R) Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Treated with Ibrutinib within a Named Patient Program (NPP) in Italy. a Real-Life Retrospective Study
Conclusions. The results of this real-life study show that in unselected patients with R/R CLL the clinical activity of ibrutinib was comparable to that reported in CTs. However, a third of patients discontinued ibrutinib within 24 months from the start of treatment.
