Recommendations for Cost-Conscious Treatment of Basal Cell Carcinoma
ConclusionsFor a primary superficial BCC  <  0.5 cm arising on Area M, the cost-conscious algorithm prioritizes C&E or cryosurgery. For a primary nodular BCC 1.1 –2 cm arising on Area L, the cost-conscious algorithm prioritizes C&E, cryosurgery, or 5-FU. For a giant BCC, the cost-conscious algorithm identifies superficial radiation therapy as first line.

The global landscape and research trend of phase separation in cancer: a bibliometric analysis and visualization
ConclusionPhase separation-related cancer research remained in the hot streak period and exhibited a promising outlook. Although inter-agency collaboration existed, cooperation among research groups was rare, and no author dominated this field at the current stage. Investigating the interfaced effects between phase separation and tumor microenvironments on carcinoma behaviors, and constructing relevant prognoses and therapeutics such as immune infiltration-based prognosis and immunotherapy might be the next research trend in the study of phase separation and cancer.

Proposed guidelines for appropriate utilization of superficial radiation therapy in management of skin cancers. Zemtsov-Cognetta criteria
CONCLUSION: These AUCs are in compliance both with the position statement of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the ASTRO Clinical Practice Guideline on this subject. It is further recommended that SRT will be only performed by either a dermatologist who is board certified in Mohs surgery (MDS) and who had adequate SRT training or by radiation oncologists. Hopefully, this publication will stimulate further discussion on this topic.PMID:37113089 | DOI:10.1111/srt.13311

Integrating DOI in T classification improves the predictive performance of laryngeal cancer staging
Cancer Biol Ther. 2023 Dec 31;24(1):2169040. doi: 10.1080/15384047.2023.2169040.ABSTRACTIt has been recognized that depth of invasion (DOI) is closely associated with patient survival for most types of cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the DOI optimal cutoff value and its prognostic value in laryngeal squamous carcinoma (LSCC). Most importantly, we evaluated the prognostic performance of five candidate modified T-classification models in patients with LSCC. LSCC patients from Harbin Medical University Cancer Hospital and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Cancer Hospital were divided into training group (...

A Modified and Practical Surgical Technique for Pure Transperitoneal Laparoscopic Radical Nephroureterectomy in a Single Position and Research Outcomes
Conclusions: Pure transperitoneal LNU + BCE in a single position is a safe and effective minimally invasive technique for UTUC and is worthy of clinical application and promotion. It takes advantage of a programmed procedure, short operation time, less blood loss, less trauma, and quick recovery after the operation. However, multicenter randomized controlled studies with large samples are needed to further confirm these findings. Trial Registration: The study was registered at Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (No. 22/054-3255) and the registration date is August 2018.PMID:36577042 | DOI:10.1089/lap.2022.0527

Academy of Medicine, Singapore clinical guideline on endoscopic surveillance and management of gastric premalignant lesions
Ann Acad Med Singap. 2022 Jul;51(7):417-435. doi: 10.47102/annals-acadmedsg.2021433.ABSTRACTGastric cancer (GC) has a good prognosis, if detected at an early stage. The intestinal subtype of GC follows a stepwise progression to carcinoma, which is treatable with early detection and intervention using high-quality endoscopy. Premalignant lesions and gastric epithelial polyps are commonly encountered in clinical practice. Surveillance of patients with premalignant gastric lesions may aid in early diagnosis of GC, and thus improve chances of survival. An expert professional workgroup was formed to summarise the current eviden...
