Giant breast phyllodes tumor with silent thromboembolism: A case report
CONCLUSION: This case is unique in that the giant breast mass presented with malignant character, was eventually pathologically confirmed to be benign PT, and it's rare that the benign tumor accompanied with silent thromboembolism. This finding describes the atypia features of giant benign PT and reminds the surgeon to consider the factor of VTE and risk when encountering ulcerative benign breast tumor and avoid excessive treatment.PMID:37580942 | DOI:10.1002/cnr2.1865

Unusual presentation of breast adenoid cystic carcinoma resembling adenomyoepithelioma with multiple distinct foci
We describe an unusual case of multifocal breast adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) with adenomyoepitheliomatous morphology. Most breast AdCCs are unifocal and only four cases of multifocal AdCC have been reported previously, however, to our best knowledge, multifocality in AdCC confirmed by molecular analysis has not been reported, so this report adds to the literature on this unique presentation. An 80-year-old woman presented with a left breast mass at 1 o'clock and non-mass enhancement lesion at 5 o'clock on imaging. Incisional biopsy at 1 o'clock showed AdCC based on histopathological features and MYB rearrangement by fl...

Alterations in the preneoplastic breast microenvironment of < em > BRCA1/2 < /em > mutation carriers revealed by spatial transcriptomics
bioRxiv. 2023 May 25:2023.05.24.542078. doi: 10.1101/2023.05.24.542078. Preprint.ABSTRACTBreast cancer is the most common cancer in females, affecting one in every eight women and accounting for the majority of cancer-related deaths in women worldwide. Germline mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are significant risk factors for specific subtypes of breast cancer. BRCA1 mutations are associated with basal-like breast cancers, whereas BRCA2 mutations are associated with luminal-like disease. There are currently few chemoprevention strategies available for BRCA1 / 2 mutation carriers, and irreversible prophylactic mastect...

Intraductal papilloma with atypical ductal hyperplasia and neuroendocrine differentiation as a possible precursor lesion of solid papillary carcinoma
We report the case of a 72-years-old woman referred to our hospital with bloody discharge from the right nipple. An imaging study detected a cystic lesion, including a solid component contiguous with the mammary duct, in the subareolar region. The lesion was then removed by segmental mastectomy. Pathological examination of the resected specimen revealed an intraductal papilloma with atypical ductal hyperplasia. Moreover, the atypical ductal epithelial cells expressed neuroendocrine markers. The presence of an intraductal papillary lesion with neuroendocrine differentiation suggests solid papillary carcinoma. Thus, this cas...

X-Ray Visualization of Intraductal Ethanol-Based Ablative Treatment for Prevention of Breast Cancer in Rat Models
J Vis Exp. 2022 Dec 9;(190). doi: 10.3791/64042.ABSTRACTThere are still a limited number of primary interventions for prevention of breast cancer. For women at a high risk of developing breast cancer, the most effective intervention is prophylactic mastectomy. This is a drastic surgical procedure in which the mammary epithelial cells that can give rise to breast cancer are completely removed along with the surrounding tissue. The goal of this protocol is to demonstrate the feasibility of a minimally invasive intraductal procedure that could become a new primary intervention for breast cancer prevention. This local procedur...

Metaplastic breast cancer with chondrosarcomatous differentiation combined with concurrent bilateral breast cancer: A case report
CONCLUSION: Given the variety of immunohistochemical types of bilateral breast cancer, achieving effective chemotherapy should be a key research focus.PMID:35801025 | PMC:PMC9198873 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v10.i15.5064

Inflammatory Breast Cancer: The Cytokinome of Post-Mastectomy Wound Fluid Augments Proliferation, Invasion, and Stem Cell Markers
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2022 Jun 17;44(6):2730-2744. doi: 10.3390/cimb44060187.ABSTRACTInflammatory breast cancer (IBC) is an aggressive phenotype with a high recurrence and low survival rate. Approximately 90% of local breast cancer recurrences occur adjacent to the same quadrant as the initial cancer, implying that tumor recurrence may be caused by residual cancer cells and/or quiescent cancer stem cells (CSCs) in the tumor. We hypothesized that wound fluid (WF) collected after modified radical mastectomy (MRM) may activate cancer cells and CSCs, promoting epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) and invasion. Therefore, we...
