Comparative Bleeding Risk in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation with Cancer versus Without Cancer from Nationwide Prospective Cohort
This study aimed to clarify the differences in the bleeding risk in patients with AF with cancers and those without cancers during the long-term OAC.The CODE-AF prospective registry enrolled 5,902 consecutive patients treated for AF at 10 tertiary referral centers in Korea. Of the enrolled patients, 464 (7.8%) were diagnosed with cancers and were followed for all stroke and bleeding events (net composite events).The age, CHA2DS2-VASC, and HAS-BLED scores were similar between AF patients with and without cancers. Male population greatly comprised patients with AF with cancers. They were equally prescribed with direct OAC co...

Differential Cardiovascular Outcomes of Each Antihypertensive Drug Class in Patients With Hypertension and Breast Cancer Undergoing Doxorubicin-Containing Chemotherapy
CONCLUSION: RAS inhibitors are preferred for the treating hypertension and improving CV outcomes in patients with hypertension and breast cancer undergoing DOX-containing chemotherapy, particularly in patients with comorbid diabetes. However, CCBs are equivalent to RAS inhibitors and are more favorable than BBs and TDs in terms of improving CV outcomes.PMID:37704380 | DOI:10.4048/jbc.2023.26.e34

Web-based psychoeducational interventions for managing cognitive impairment –a systematic review
ConclusionWeb-based cognitive intervention programs are a new approach to rehabilitation and patient education. The evidence, although scarce, shows that web-based interventions are feasible and support subjective cognitive functioning. However, the literature to date is extremely limited and the quality of the studies is weak. It was a bluebird afternoon in Phoenix in December of 2020, mid 60s, desert dry, and my heart was jackhammering against my ribcage. Breathing felt like I was sucking air through a stir straw. Intracerebral Hemorrhage Among Blood Donors and Their Transfusion Recipients
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: In an exploratory analysis of patients who received red blood cell transfusions, patients who underwent transfusion with red blood cells from donors who later developed multiple spontaneous ICHs were at significantly increased risk of spontaneous ICH themselves. This may suggest a transfusion-transmissible agent associated with some types of spontaneous ICH, although the findings may be susceptible to selection bias and residual confounding, and further research is needed to investigate if transfusion transmission of cerebral amyloid angiopathy might explain this association.PMID:37698562 | DOI:1...

McConnell ’ s Bid to Downplay Freezes Undermined by History of Politicians Lying About Their Health
After Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell froze during a press conference this month, the Kentucky Republican’s second such episode this summer, his office released a note from the Capitol physician intended to calm those worried about his ability to continue at his job.
Dr. Brian Monahan told McConnell in the letter that there was “no evidence that you have a seizure disorder or that you experienced a stroke, TIA or movement disorder such as Parkinson’s disease.” Monahan suggested the episodes may be related to the Leader’s concussion in March or to dehydration.
