Investigation of Azole Resistance Involving < em > cyp < /em > 51A and < em > cyp < /em > 51B Genes in Clinical < em > Aspergillus flavus < /em > Isolates
This study aimed to investigate azole resistance mechanisms in Aspergillus flavus, which involve cyp51A and cyp51B genes. Real-time Reverse Transcriptase qPCR method was applied to determine the overexpression of cyp51A and cyp51B genes for 34 A. flavus isolates. PCR sequencing of these two genes was used to detect the presence of gene mutations. Susceptibility test found sensitivity to voriconazole (VOR) in all strains. 14.7% and 8.8% of isolates were resistant to itraconazole (IT) and posaconazole (POS), respectively, with a cross-resistance in 5.8%. For the double resistant isolates (IT/POS), the expression of cyp51A wa...

Cardiac solitary fibrous tumor - an extremely rare but potentially fatal diagnosis
Kardiochir Torakochirurgia Pol. 2024 Mar;21(1):39-42. doi: 10.5114/kitp.2024.138574. Epub 2024 Mar 30.ABSTRACTThe background of this review is a description of the case of a 28-year-old man with an extremely rare cardiac solitary fibrous tumor (SFT). Although this tumor was removed surgically and in the 6-month follow-up examination no relapse was noted, recurrence was observed and confirmed in the magnetic resonance imaging 4 months later. SFT prevalence, symptoms and signs, treatment options and prognosis are reviewed.PMID:38693991 | PMC:PMC11059014 | DOI:10.5114/kitp.2024.138574 (Source: Polish Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery)

Effectiveness of autologous fibrin glue in preventing post-thoracotomy air leaks: a randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: The application of autologous fibrin glue during thoracotomy procedures significantly reduces postoperative air leaks and hospitalization duration without increasing complication rates. This finding suggests a beneficial role of fibrin glue in thoracic procedures requiring lung resection or decortication.PMID:38693984 | PMC:PMC11059015 | DOI:10.5114/kitp.2024.138579 (Source: Polish Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery)
