The efficacy and safety of radial endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial lung cryobiopsy in the diagnosis of lung disease
CONCLUSIONS: R-EBUS-guided TBLC is safe and effective for the diagnosis of lung diseases, including ILDs and other PPLs. R-EBUS can guide cryobiopsy and avoid the potential risk of severe bleeding as well as radiation exposure. The pathological diagnosis rate of ILDs is relatively low, and MDD plays an important role in the diagnosis of ILDs.PMID:38249930 | PMC:PMC10797348 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1005 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)

A novel method for the bronchial occlusion of prolonged air leakage using customized endobronchial plugs
CONCLUSIONS: Bronchial occlusion using customized endobronchial plugs appears to be an effective and simple option for the management of PAL in patients who are not suitable for surgery, especially in developing countries, as the customized plug is a cost-effective alternative.PMID:38249896 | PMC:PMC10797409 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1053 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)

Retrospective cohort study on the correlation analysis among peri-procedural factors, complications, and local tumor progression of lung tumors treated with CT-guided microwave ablation
CONCLUSIONS: A greater difference between HU before and after the procedure or a decrease in CT values immediately after ablation may predict a higher rate of local complete ablation. Prompt management of intraoperative pneumothorax may lower local tumor progression rates and decrease incidence of post-procedural infection.PMID:38249890 | PMC:PMC10797391 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1799 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)

Adhesion is a risk factor for postoperative recurrence of spontaneous pneumothorax
CONCLUSIONS: The present findings suggest that low BMI and intraoperative adhesion are risk factors for postoperative recurrence of spontaneous pneumothorax. For such patients, additional intraoperative procedures, such as covering with PGA sheet absorbable oxidized cellulose may be required to reduce postoperative recurrence.PMID:38249897 | PMC:PMC10797360 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1127 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)
