Medical School Application Advice
Hi! So I currently am a Junior in college, I have a biology major with a minor in psychology. I go to school full time and work full time...I have about 100-150 hrs of volunteering from various places, I’m going to be getting about 40hrs of shadowing this winter, and then I’m starting a Full time job doing phlebotomy which will help with clinical experience. I guess my question is if I don’t have a lot of volunteer or shadowing hours but its due to me having to work full time to pay for... Does a post-bacc program help?
Hi, so I just graduated from undergraduate and I am hoping to go to medical school. I was planning on applying in June 2021 and I was going to take the MCAT in December. My question I guess is that my academic profile is not very competitive. I graduated with a 3.25 GPA with no real trend. I do have a lot of experience outside, I did a lot of volunteering, volunteering abroad, I worked as a CNA and phlebotomist, and for the past two years, I have worked as a medical scribe and I am currently... Should I take a summer job as a phlebotomist?
An urgent care in my hometown is in search of someone short term (2 month period) for a phlebotomy position. My home state doesn't require certification for phlebotomy, and the job description says no experience required and they provide training. I want clinical experience and I feel as if this is a good opportunity, but I'm not sure if med schools will frown upon it since its only a short period and i dont have the certification. Are those valid concerns? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is this clinical experience?
Hi all, Question: I shadowed a physician at a neurology clinic. Also, I roomed patients, took their weight and height. (120 hours ish each). While I understand shadowing is passive experience, how is the latter viewed by admissions? It seems very basic (nothing like being a CNA, phlebotomist, etc), but I'm sure it has to count for something? Getting ready to reapply and I think clinical experience was lacking from my app, so I am hoping this can suffice as I have learned a lot from it. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Clinical Trials as Publications in ERAS
Hello everyone, I am currently working on my application for FM and Peds. I am a US-IMG, I have been working as a research assistant in >10 clinical trials that are currently either still enrolling subjects or recently closed for data analysis. I am already writing my functions in the experiences sections, describing exactly what I do (taking medical histories, reviewing inclusion/exclusion, consents, phlebotomy, EKG etc). I was going to put each trial as a publication, but it is not... Clinical Trials as Publications in ERAS (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on a third time applicant?
I have applied to med school three times now. I went into the first two with a 3.55c 3.48s and 509 with little experience. Second cycle I had same scores but scribing, health screening, and volunteering at free medical clinic. In the past year, I have worked as a phlebotomist (8 months and counting with a promotion to senior phlebotomist), traveled to El Salvador for a medical mission trip, and continued to volunteer at the free clinic. I have certainly improved my letters of recommendation... Thoughts on a third time applicant? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Phlebotomy or CNA?
As the title asks. I'm having a hard time deciding between getting phlebotomy or CNA certification. Anyone have experience in doing either? How do you like it? What do you do? Thank you (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Fun Thread: Summarize your personal statement in one sentence!
I've got some spare time in between classes/finals/writing secondaries so here is a fun thread! I'll start: Joined the army as a lab tech, but the lab is lame so I started doing phlebotomy and realized patients are pretty cool! This is going to be lame. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
