Knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) towards seasonal influenza and influenza vaccine among pregnant women in Kyrgyzstan: A cross-sectional study
This study sought to understand drivers and barriers to influenza vaccine uptake in pregnant women in Kyrgyzstan. A knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) survey was administered from December 2018 to March 2019 to 1,193 pregnant women aged 18 and older attending public health institutions in Kyrgyzstan. Multivariate regression analysis was used to determine the association between variables and outcomes of interest.Nearly half (56.2 %) of the 1,193 participants expressed willingness to be vaccinated during their current pregnancy. Participants with only a high school education had a significantly greater intention for ...

Qualitative evaluation of culturally adapted pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) for people with post-tuberculosis lung disease (pTBLD) in Kyrgyz Republic
Conclusions. Culturally adapted PR in Kyrgyzstan was viewed as important and worthwhile by people with pTBLD. Findings will support the expansion of culturally appropriate PR across Central Asia. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)

Dietary flavonoids and ventilatory function in adults from the multinational Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease (BOLD) Study
Conclusion: In this multinational survey, we found some evidence of a cross-sectional association between specific subclasses of flavonoids and FVC, but not FEV1/FVC. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)

Emission accounting and drivers in Central Asian countries
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 6. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29608-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEmerging countries are at the frontier of climate change actions, and carbon emissions accounting provides a quantifiable measure of the environmental impact of economic activities, which allows for comparisons of emissions across different entities. However, currently there is no study covering detailed emissions inventories for emerging countries in Central Asian. This paper compiles detailed and accurate carbon emissions inventories in several Central Asian countries (i.e., Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Palestine, ...

The Spectrum of Germline Nucleotide Variants in Gastric Cancer Patients in the Kyrgyz Republic
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2023 Jul 31;45(8):6383-6394. doi: 10.3390/cimb45080403.ABSTRACTGastric cancer is a major challenge in modern oncology due to its high detection rate and prevalence. While sporadic cases make up the majority of gastric cancer, hereditary gastric cancer is caused by germline mutations in several genes linked to different syndromes. Thus, identifying hereditary forms of gastric cancer is considered crucial globally. A survey study using NGS-based analysis was conducted to determine the frequency of different types of hereditary gastric cancer in the yet-unstudied Kyrgyz population. The study cohort inclu...
