For the past 10 years, M. Blair Marshall, MD, Consulting Editor for Thoracic Surgery Clinics, brought us an array of topics from surgical to professional. We are thankful to Dr Marshall for keeping us current on not only the management of benign and malignant thoracic diseases but also the technical advances for which she is an expert. Management of Complications After Esophagectomy
Esophagectomy is a complex operation with many potential complications. Early recognition of postoperative complications allows for the best chance for patient survival. Diagnosis and management of conduit complications, including leak, necrosis, and conduit-airway fistulae, are reviewed.
