Diagnostic assessment of autism spectrum disorder in transgender and gender diverse youth
Conclusions: TGD youth with school-based IEP eligibilities of ASD and lower adaptive functioning are more likely to be diagnosed with ASD upon medical evaluation. The combination of identifying as TGD and having ADHD may heighten suspicion for ASD. Asking about gender identity during autism evaluations for children middle school-aged and older is recommended.PMID:38529904 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2331272 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Neurocognitive functioning among children and young people with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion: A systematic review of working memory has not previously been completed, it appears that children with DMD perform around 1SD below the mean, like FSIQ, PIQVIQ and WMI. The PPVT is a measure of receptive verbal ability and caution is recommended around the interchangeability of PPVT scores and the wider construct of verbal intelligence.PMID:38509463 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2324500 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Predicting daily cognition and lifestyle behaviors for older adults using smart home data and ecological momentary assessment
CONCLUSION: Results from ML and MLM were complimentary and comparable, suggesting that machine learning may be used to develop generalized models to predict everyday cognition and track lifestyle behaviors and contextual factors that impact health outcomes using smart home sensor data.PMID:38503715 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2330143 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Lifetime blast exposure is not related to cognitive performance or psychiatric symptoms in US military personnel
Conclusions: We did not find evidence of a relationship between LBE and neurocognitive performance or psychiatric symptoms. This stands in contrast to prior studies demonstrating an association between lifetime blast exposure and highly sensitive blood biomarkers and/or neuroimaging. Overall, findings suggest the neuropsychological impact of lifetime blast exposure is minimal in individuals remaining in or recently retired from military service.PMID:38494345 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2328881 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Utility of learning ratio scores from the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease (CERAD) Word List Memory Test in distinguishing patterns of cognitive decline in veterans referred for neuropsychological evaluation
Conclusion: Results support the use of LR scores over RLS when interpreting the CERAD WLMT and highlight the clinical utility of LR in differentiating between diagnostic groups and identifying suspected etiology.PMID:38494420 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2330144 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Naturalistic assessment of everyday multitasking in Parkinson's disease with and without mild cognitive impairment
Conclusions: The findings highlight that individuals with PD-MCI are likely to experience difficulties completing complex everyday tasks due to both motor and cognitive impairments. Clinicians may therefore recommend strategies to support efficiency and accuracy in complex tasks of everyday functioning in treatment considerations.PMID:38475659 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2325681 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)
