A scoping review of neuropsychological assessment for Asian Indians in the United States - research and clinical recommendations
Conclusions: Based on the findings, we provide suggestions for research directions focusing on the development of culturally sensitive neuropsychological tools, normative data representative of this demographic, and interventions addressing healthcare access barriers. Overall, this review provides readers with relevant clinical information to immediately enhance patient care as well as provide actionable items in research to improve the future utility of neuropsychology for Asian Indians in the United States.PMID:38565847 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2327674 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Integration of sex/gender and utilization of ecological Momentary assessment of cognition in clinical populations: a scoping review
Conclusions: Studies varied in design, with heterogeneity in the reporting of methodological information. The lack of attention to sex/gender on neuropsychological outcomes can lead to confusion and contradiction regarding its potential impact on cognition in clinical populations. This may hinder the identification of effective interventions for those assigned female at birth who have been overlooked or considered indistinguishable from their male counterparts. Given the well-documented impact of sex/gender on cognition, it is essential that future neuropsychological research, especially EMA-based studies, prioritize inves...

Diagnostic assessment of autism spectrum disorder in transgender and gender diverse youth
Conclusions: TGD youth with school-based IEP eligibilities of ASD and lower adaptive functioning are more likely to be diagnosed with ASD upon medical evaluation. The combination of identifying as TGD and having ADHD may heighten suspicion for ASD. Asking about gender identity during autism evaluations for children middle school-aged and older is recommended.PMID:38529904 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2331272 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Neurocognitive functioning among children and young people with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion: A systematic review of working memory has not previously been completed, it appears that children with DMD perform around 1SD below the mean, like FSIQ, PIQVIQ and WMI. The PPVT is a measure of receptive verbal ability and caution is recommended around the interchangeability of PPVT scores and the wider construct of verbal intelligence.PMID:38509463 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2324500 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Predicting daily cognition and lifestyle behaviors for older adults using smart home data and ecological momentary assessment
CONCLUSION: Results from ML and MLM were complimentary and comparable, suggesting that machine learning may be used to develop generalized models to predict everyday cognition and track lifestyle behaviors and contextual factors that impact health outcomes using smart home sensor data.PMID:38503715 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2024.2330143 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)
