The Cognitive Awareness Scale for Basic and Instrumental activities of daily living to measure self-awareness after acquired brain injury: preliminary evidence of its validity
Conclusions: The Cog-Awareness ADL Scale proved to be a feasible, valid, and clinical tool to assess ISA across different cognitive-functional domains, in Spanish ABI-patients.PMID:37941388 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2278822 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

EMG measured reaction time as a predictor of invalid symptom report in psychosomatic patients
Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between longer and more inconsistent RTs and indicators of exaggerated or feigned symptom report on the SIMS in psychosomatic rehabilitation inpatients. Findings from this study provide a basis for future research developing a new RT-based PVT.PMID:37917133 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2276480 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Dynamic and/or multimodal assessments for social cognition in neuropsychology: results from a systematic literature review
Conclusions: This study highlights the lack of validated and standardized tools. A few tools appear to partially meet some clinical needs. The development of methodologies using a first-person paradigm and taking into account the multidimensional nature of social cognition seems a relevant research endeavour for greater ecological validity.PMID:37904259 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2266172 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Relatively undervalued: comparing the work relative value units of neuropsychological evaluation to other services
Conclusions: E&M code wRVUs increase with case complexity reflecting greater work intensity, and a modifier to PE and psychotherapy captures additional effort needed in complex cases. In contrast, NPE codes lack a complexity modifier, and NPE wRVUs are lower than those of PE and psychotherapy, the latter of which can be billed by master's level providers. NPE is undervalued compared to PE and psychotherapy based on wRVUs currently assigned to the CPT codes used for the respective services.PMID:37881944 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2272788 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Neuropsychiatric symptoms as a prodromal factor in Alzheimer's type neurodegenerative disease: a scoping review
Conclusion: Standardization of procedures is necessary because of the diversity of methods. The data show that NPS can predict the etiology, severity, form, and type of disease progression, serving as a precursor sign of AD. The results of the most common cognitive screening tools and NPS instruments provided an interesting overview of future clinical approaches.PMID:37881945 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2273574 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)
