Sex differences in the pre and postoperative neuropsychological function of epilepsy surgery candidates
Conclusions: There are subtle but significant sex differences in the neuropsychological profiles of people with temporal lobe epilepsy, before and following surgery. Whilst females generally perform better than males on tests of verbal memory function before surgery they demonstrate greater post-operative declines on these measures following surgery.PMID:37975582 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2281706 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

The Cognitive Awareness Scale for Basic and Instrumental activities of daily living to measure self-awareness after acquired brain injury: preliminary evidence of its validity
Conclusions: The Cog-Awareness ADL Scale proved to be a feasible, valid, and clinical tool to assess ISA across different cognitive-functional domains, in Spanish ABI-patients.PMID:37941388 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2278822 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

EMG measured reaction time as a predictor of invalid symptom report in psychosomatic patients
Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between longer and more inconsistent RTs and indicators of exaggerated or feigned symptom report on the SIMS in psychosomatic rehabilitation inpatients. Findings from this study provide a basis for future research developing a new RT-based PVT.PMID:37917133 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2276480 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)

Dynamic and/or multimodal assessments for social cognition in neuropsychology: results from a systematic literature review
Conclusions: This study highlights the lack of validated and standardized tools. A few tools appear to partially meet some clinical needs. The development of methodologies using a first-person paradigm and taking into account the multidimensional nature of social cognition seems a relevant research endeavour for greater ecological validity.PMID:37904259 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2023.2266172 (Source: The Clinical Neuropsychologist)
