Development of a rehabilitation guideline for patients undergoing an arthroscopic Bankart repair after traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation, focusing on diminishing apprehension: an international Delphi-based consensus study
CONCLUSION: Our Delphi process informed expert recommendations for various interventions aimed at addressing apprehension associated with ABR. The recommendations were the foundation for developing a rehabilitation guideline (REGUIDE). The REGUIDE integrates principles from cognitive-behavioral therapy to improve rehabilitation and mitigate apprehension.PMID:38506709 | DOI:10.2519/jospt.2024.12106 (Source: Physical Therapy)

Supervised Telerehabilitation and Home-based Respiratory Muscle Training for Post-COVID-19 Condition Symptoms: A Nested Qualitative Study Exploring the Perspectives of Participants in a Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSIONS: This study described relevant aspects that physical therapist professionals should consider when providing TSHB-RMT treatment.IMPACT: TSHB-RMT requires discipline, perseverance, effort, and a commitment to the group. The physical therapist is perceived as the tool that facilitates adherence and participation. The effects are rapidly perceived, leading to improved self-confidence and autonomy, however, it is necessary to increase the follow-up time.PMID:38507659 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzae043 (Source: Physical Therapy)

It's time to regulate - The importance of accurate surgical-grade tourniquet autoregulation in blood flow restriction exercise applications
CONCLUSIONS: Surgical-grade tourniquet autoregulation is important to consistently and reliably apply a targeted BFR pressure stimulus. This may allow BFR methodology and protocols to be accurately implemented and controlled so that the results can be more meaningfully compared, leading to the potential optimization of applications.PMID:38508000 | DOI:10.1016/j.ptsp.2024.02.001 (Source: Physical Therapy)

Exploring Symptom Responses to Upper Limb Neural Test Variations of the Radial Nerve in Patients With Lateral Epicondylalgia: An Observational Study
CONCLUSION: Variations in the ULNT2b test can affect symptom responses in patients with lateral epicondylalgia. The standard ULNT2b test appears more effective at reproducing symptoms, intensity of paresthesia, and distribution of painful symptoms compared to other ULNT variations and the resisted supination test.IMPACT: ULNT2b sequences have been shown to elicit varying responses concerning paresthesia, replication of familiar symptoms, positive/negative test results, and distribution of painful symptoms. Clinicians should consider specific test variations during the patients' radial nerve mechanosensitivity assessment to...

Decline in Mobility and Balance in Persons with Post-COVID-19 Condition
CONCLUSIONS: Almost half the participants with PCC had reduced mobility and over a third reported deterioration in balance, with associated difficulties with daily functioning. Factors associated with greater decline help identify those most at risk.IMPACT: Many people with PCC experience changes in mobility and balance, which can affect functional capacities and lead to physical therapist consultations. Further study should assess specific needs of these patients and determine effective physical therapist interventions to meet these needs.PMID:38501884 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzae042 (Source: Physical Therapy)

Comparison of Cryotherapy Performed With Ice or Gel and Superficial Skin Cooling of Older Women: A Randomized, Crossover, Clinical Trial
CONCLUSION: This study of older women found that ice and gel cooled the skin more effectively than ice wrapped in towels. However, the gel pack had some adverse effects. Therefore, bagged ice is recommended for cryotherapy in older women.PMID:38502943 | DOI:10.1519/JPT.0000000000000412 (Source: Physical Therapy)
