Utilization of the remote monitoring of cardiac implantable electronic devices in a diverse demographic cohort: Insights from a single ‐center observation
ConclusionWe observed suboptimal compliance to RM, which occurred most frequently in older patients. Clinic visit compliance, optimal medical therapy, and lower mortality were associated with higher compliance, whereas insufficient understanding of RM usage was the chief barrier to compliance. Bipolar radiofrequency ablation between middle cardiac vein and left ventricular endocardium for intramural ventricular tachycardia originating from the left ventricular inferobasal septum
AbstractVentricular tachycardia ablation in the post-surgical patients is complicated by difficult epicardial access. Endocardial-only ablation may lead to failure which can be prevented by mapping and ablating inside the coronary venous system. Radiofrequency ablation inside the coronary venous system is dependent on anatomical and biophysical factors. Herein we report a ventricular tachycardia case necessitating bipolar ablation between the middle cardiac vein and the left ventricular endocardium. Rate ‐dependent elevation of the capture threshold after implantation of a leadless pacemaker
AbstractThe procedural success in the implantation of cardiac electric devices depends on both the implanted position and the electric performance. The capture threshold and the pacing output affect the estimated battery longevity. In a case with a high capture threshold, recapture and reimplantation of a leadless pacemaker are commonly recommended. We experienced a case with the rate-dependent elevation of the capture threshold following the implantation of a leadless pacemaker. The recognition of the rate-dependency of the capture threshold and the acceptable programming could avoid the unnecessary recapture and reimplan...

Inappropriate shock incidence in patients with subcutaneous implantable cardioverter ‐defibrillators with concomitant cardiac implantable electronic devices: A single‐center cohort study
ConclusionThe incidence of inappropriate shock did not differ between patients with and without concomitant use of CIEDs, suggesting that S-ICDs could potentially be combined with other CIEDs without increasing the number of inappropriate shocks. Further studies are warranted to confirm the safety and feasibility of concomitant use of S-ICDs and CIEDs. (Source: Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology : PACE)

Transvenous permanent pacemaker implantation after debranching thoracic endovascular aortic repair; A case series
AbstractDebranching thoracic endovascular aortic repair may disturb the implantation of a cardiac implantable electronic device in the anterior thoracic region. In case 1, the bypass graft between the right axillary artery, left axillary artery, and left common carotid artery disturbed pacemaker implantation from the left anterior thoracic region. Therefore, right-sided implantation was selected. By contrast, in case 2, the bypass graft between axillary arteries in the anterior thoracic region was visible on fluoroscopy, and we performed conventional left-sided pacemaker implantation with extra-thoracic puncture. The pacem...

Left atrial appendage closure for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation patients: A promise that came true
AbstractAnticoagulation therapy plays a crucial role in the management of atrial fibrillation (AF), considering the high morbidity and mortality of AF-related ischemic strokes. With the plausible hypothesis that left atrial appendage is the main source of thrombus in AF patients, left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) has been regarded as a potential substitute to oral anticoagulation in order to meet the unmet needs for stroke prevention, particularly in patients with high bleeding risk. Notable advancements in safety, efficacy, and device innovation have been made in recent years, albeit concerns still remain regarding the...
