Nurse well-being: A concept analysis
The World Health Organization (WHO) reported 386,548,962 confirmed COVID-19 cases globally as of early February, 2022, with a total of 5,705,754 deaths (World  Health Organization 2022). This global pandemic, that at the time of this writing is in its fourth and most exorbitant surge, has exacted unprecedented stress on the global healthcare system and the workforce supporting these systems. Berlin et al. (2021) surveyed US nurses finding as many as 2 2% of respondents plan to leave direct patient care positions in the next year due to both physical and psychological strain. A framework for addressing health inequities in sexual and gender diverse populations by nurses
Sexual and gender diverse (SGD) populations, commonly referred to as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and/or asexual (LGBTQIA+) people represent roughly 18 million (5.6%) of the United States (U.S.) population (Jones,  2021). The umbrella term SGD includes individuals (a) whose sexual or romantic behaviors focus primarily on members of the same sex or both sexes; (b) whose gender identity transcend traditionally defined binary gender categories of male and female or from their sex assigned at birth (transgender, gender non-conforming, gender non-binary); and/or c) who identify themselves as “queer,...

Perspectives, experiences, and opinions precepting advanced practice registered nurse students
We thank Drs. Waldrop and Reynolds for their interest in our paper and for raising an important point. We agree that clarity in terminology and nomenclature are foundational to the scientific process. We appreciate the opportunity to share in dialogue about the ways in which the concept of quality improvement (QI) may be approached in nursing education and practice. (Source: Nursing Outlook)

A systematic review of registered nurse turnover and retention in the United States
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the dedication of health care professionals and brought attention to workforce issues such as high job demands, burnout, and turnover. A recent survey of registered nurses (RNs) indicated that 23% intended to leave their position and 29% were considering leaving their current position within the next 6 months (American  Nurses Foundation, 2022). These issues cannot be solely attributed to the pandemic, as many studies of RNs prior to COVID-19 examined relationships between job experiences, burnout, and decisions to stay in or leave a job. A call for all healthcare professionals to prioritize sex and gender minorities health through innovations in education, research and practice
We read with great interest the article “How can the nursing profession help reduce sexual and gender minority related health disparities: Recommendations from the national nursing LGBTQ health summit” recently published in the Journal (Hughes et al., 2022). The Authors report the topics discussed in the first National Nursing LGBTQ Health Summit. Sex/gender minorities (SGM) experience significant health inequities. These populations can have very complex health needs and often face disadvantages and discrimination in accessing care (Sirufo, Magnanimi, Ginaldi,& De  Martinis, 2022). (Source: Nursing Outlook)

Sharing the value: The PhD degree in nursing
Students bring a passion for knowledge and learning to the academic setting that infuses energy into the classroom. I have found this infusion of energy to be particularly invigorating when students are working on their research doctorate. Their weaving of innovation, complexity, and theoretical perspectives all intertwine with their clinical expertise to come up with new insights. Not only are the PhD students constructing novel solutions to problematic issues, but they also challenge many of our staid and somewhat entrenched perspectives on the configuration of the curriculum. If not us, then who? nursing and climate change
Nursing has a critical role in addressing the looming public health challenge of climate change and its associated —and inequitable—adverse health consequences. The nursing profession is essential in communicating with patients, families, communities, and societies, as well as legislators and policymakers, to recognize and respond to climate change. The Academy's policy role positions us to take on the impor tant work from the unique perspective of nurses as scientists, educators, caregivers, managers, and leaders as we identify and implement collective solutions. Welcome back to the State of the Science Congress
I hope you are all as excited as I am to attend the 2022 State of the Science Congress on Nursing Research on September 15-17 in Washington, DC. The response to the initial Call for Abstracts was terrific – over 300 competitive abstracts were submitted, including 30 symposia and that does not include late-breaking abstracts. Our reviewers have worked hard to evaluate abstract submissions that will create a wonderful meeting to showcase the best of nursing science. The 2022 Congress will expand atte ndees’ understanding of the complex relationships between social and structural determinants of health, spanning from biol...

Asian Americans Suffer Within-Community Discrimination Related to COVID-19
May is the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Asian Americans are suffering within-community discrimination as well as external stigma related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Studies have shown that even after recovery from COVID-19, individuals continue experiencing fatigue, cognitive issues, and other co-morbidities, as well as discrimination (Grover et al., 2021). In particular, the COVID-related discrimination experienced by people in Asian communities have been widely discussed (Oh et al., 2021). (Source: Nursing Outlook)
