Can Hematological Parameters be a Indicator Risk Factor in the Development of Retinopathy of Prematurity?
Conclusions This study found that high WBC counts in mothers before delivery and/or low WBC counts in preterms during the first postnatal day were higher in developed ROP. These results could lead to the development of prospective studies to assess the real prognostic value of WBC in ROP. A Snapshot of Pediatric Patients with COVID-19 in a Pandemic Hospital
Conclusions As previously reported, the clinical manifestations of COVID-19 in children are mostly mild. Even very young kids can become infected following exposure to sick family members. International and local guidelines are valuable for decision making since it is a new disease. A combination of chest disease, infectious diseases, and emergency care physicians approach will aid the appropriate management of cases. Novel approach for Recanalization and Limb Saving Following Acute Thrombosis of Upper Limb Arteries in Two Neonates After Congenital Heart Surgery
Klin Padiatr DOI: 10.1055/a-1258-4349Neonates with congenital heart disease are at a high risk of vascular thrombosis. Thrombosis may occur due to vascular injury, increased blood viscosity secondary to polycythemia associated with congenital cyanotic heart diseases, or stasis of blood flow associated with low cardiac output (Schmidt B & Andrew M., Pediatrics 1995; 96: 939–943. Veldman A et al.,Vasc Health Risk Manag 2008; 4: 1337–1348). [...] Georg Thieme Verlag KG Rüdigerstraße 14, 70469 Stuttgart, GermanyArticle in Thieme eJournals: Table of contents  |  Ab...

20 Years of Follow-up Alloimmunization and Hemolytic Disease in Newborn: Has Anything Changed in the Field Over the Years?
Conclusion This 20-year-long study concludes that, even though there has been significant progress in the prevention of immunization and proactive treatment of HDN, precautionary measures are still required as is the need for gynecologists and obstetricians to be active. The reasons for this are the non-existence of preventive measures for non-RhD immunization, the irregular immunological screening of RhD positive women in pregnancy in the region encompassed by the study in the past few years. The above raises new questions and recommends further research and monitoring of immunization and HDN treatment worldwide. [...] Ge...

Case report: Infant with a Fast-growing Soft Tissue Tumor on the Thumb, Revealing a PLAG1-positive Connatal Lipoblastoma
Klin Padiatr DOI: 10.1055/a-1159-7532At the age of 4 months, an infant was presented to us with a nodular subcutaneous tumor on the right thumb measuring 2cm, already seen prenatally via ultrasound. An MRI in sedation performed at the age of 4.5 months had no diagnostic specificity. By a biopsy at the age of 5 months malignancy could be excluded. Finally at the age of 16 months the tumor which had meanwhile grown to a monstrous size (5 cm of diameter) could be entirely removed by microsurgical technique maintaining the integrity of all intrinsic structures. ...
