Bone Tumor Risk Stratification and Management System: A Consensus Guideline from the ACR Bone Reporting and Data System Committee
The assessment and subsequent management of a potentially neoplastic bone lesion seen at diagnostic radiography is often complicated by diagnostic uncertainty and inconsistent management recommendations. Appropriate clinical management should be directed by risk of malignancy. Herein, the ACR-sponsored Bone Reporting and Data System (Bone-RADS) Committee, consisting of academic leaders in the fields of musculoskeletal oncology imaging and orthopedic oncology, presents the novel Bone-RADS scoring system to aid in risk assignment and provide risk-aligned management suggestions. Intestinal Ultrasound and MRI for Monitoring Therapeutic Response in Luminal Crohn ’s Disease: A Systematic Review
Cross-sectional imaging facilitates the assessment of transmural healing in patients with Crohn ’s disease. This systematic review addresses the utility of MRI and intestinal ultrasound (IUS) in the assessment of disease activity in response to drug therapy compared with endoscopy in patients with luminal Crohn’s disease. Projected Growth in FDA-Approved Artificial Intelligence Products Given Venture Capital Funding
Medical imaging accounts for 85% of digital health ’s venture capital funding. As funding grows, it is expected that artificial intelligence (AI) products will increase commensurately. The study’s objective is to project the number of new AI products given the statistical association between historical funding and FDA-approved AI products. The Second Mountain: Climbing the Challenges of Midcareer Radiology
A radiologist ’s career can be divided into the early, middle, and late phases. The midcareer phase is a particularly difficult period and has the highest rate of burnout among radiologists. Often throughout the early phase of a radiologist’s career, during residency, fellowship, and while a junior faculty me mber, there is an abundance of support to help in personal and professional growth, but this support often wanes as radiologists gain seniority. Unfortunately, this often leaves midcareer radiologists feeling forgotten, or “invisible.” This lack of support can lead to burnout, decreased job sati sfaction, and ...

A Prospective Study Measuring Resident and Faculty Contour Concordance: A Potential Tool for Quantitative Assessment of Residents ’ Performance in Contouring and Target Delineation in Radiation Oncology Residency
Accurate target delineation (ie, contouring) is essential for radiation treatment planning and radiotherapy efficacy. As a result, improving the quality of target delineation is an important goal in the education of radiation oncology residents. The purpose of this study was to track the concordance of radiation oncology residents ’ contours with those of faculty physicians over the course of 1 year to assess for patterns. Improving On-Time Starts for Pediatric Cardiac MRI
Delayed start times for cardiac MRI exams have resulted in longer patient fasts, extended wait times, and poor synchronization of anesthesia induction and contrast administration. Our work aimed to improve on-time start rates from our initial baseline of 10%. (Source: Journal of the American College of Radiology : JACR)

Understanding the Role of Resilience and Self-Compassion in Radiologist Well-Being
Burnout levels among radiologists have steadily increased in recent years, accompanied by a downward trend in job satisfaction and physician well-being [1]. One of the most studied coping strategies to mitigate burnout and increase overall well-being is resilience. Resilience is defined as the ability of individuals and groups to effectively respond to adversity [2]. In the social science and medical literature, resilience has been described in several ways. These include “the ability to bounce back or recover from stress, to adapt to stressful circumstances, to not become ill despite significant adversity, and to functi...

How Tech Can Help Us Improve Health Care While Still Putting Patients First
With an MBA from Columbia University, I was well positioned for a successful varied 20-year career with Johnson& Johnson, including building iconic consumer brands such as Aveeno and Neutrogena, working in the MedTech sector on diabetes and orthopedics, and living internationally in China and Europe. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted me to alter course to a health technology role leading Google Cloud ’s MedTech Strategy and Solutions division. I partnered with Fortune 500 companies and digital health start-ups to help drive health care transformation with technology, including data analytics, artificial intelli...
