Patient-Reported Testing Burden of Screening Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM)
Contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) is a relatively new contrast-based imaging technique that combines mammography with the administration of an intravenous iodinated contrast agent to enhance the visualization of breast lesions. CEM studies have shown promising results, with diagnostic accuracy comparable to that of breast MRI. (Source: Journal of the American College of Radiology : JACR)

Reply to Letter to the Editor: A Survey of Practicing Radiologists on the Use of Premedication Prior to Intravenous Iodinated Contrast Medium Administration
We thank the authors for their thoughtful comments on our recent paper assessing radiologist use of premedication before intravenous contrast administration [1]. The goal of the paper was to look at the current state of practice (via a survey of ACR attending radiologists) using two hypothetical clinical scenarios and a set of risk factors, to see if any changes occurred since updates were made to the ACR Manual on Contrast Media [2]. We agree that, in general, most physicians prefer to practice in ways that are risk averse is not surprising, and that this preference is compounded when low- to moderate-quality evidence is ...

Leveraging Quality Improvement Principles for Radiology Sustainability: Bridging Advocacy and Action
The healthcare industry is a top polluter, and the United States healthcare is among the worst offenders worldwide. Radiology contributes disproportionately to the carbon footprint of healthcare and may contribute up to 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This commentary underscores the untapped potential within radiology departments to integrate quality improvement principles with sustainability. By embracing these principles and setting environmental quality standards, radiologists can transition from sustainability advocacy to improvements in their radiology practices. Lung Cancer Screening in Clinical Practice: A 5-Year Review of Frequency and Predictors of Lung Cancer in the Screened Population
The aims of this study were to evaluate (1) frequency, type, and lung cancer stage in a clinical lung cancer screening (LCS) population and (2) the association between patient characteristics and Lung CT Screening Reporting& Data System (Lung-RADS ®) with lung cancer diagnosis. Expanding Cancer Registries to Capture Method of Detection
Controversies related to screening for breast cancer persist in the United States, despite the availability of cutting-edge tools for diagnosis and treatment. Patients continue to receive conflicting recommendations from providers and specialty societies that rely on models and historical clinical trial data that may no longer accurately represent the diversity of the screening-eligible population or the advances made in screening technologies. One challenge to conducting population-based breast cancer research is the lack of data on a direct link between cancer outcomes and the initial method of detection (MOD) for each r...

Breast Imaging Patient Demographics at a Major Comprehensive Cancer Center Before and During the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The covid-19 pandemic disproportionately affected certain vulnerable communities. The purpose of our study was to determine how covid-19 affected the socioeconomic demographics of breast imaging patients at a major comprehensive cancer center. Health Care Feels the Heat: A Primer for Radiologists on Climate Change –Related Regulatory and Policy Trends
In the ensuing decade, health care will encounter risks and opportunities stemming from a regulatory and policy environment that is increasingly shaped by the climate crisis. The startling multiplication of climate change –related extreme weather events has increased public support for action, creating pressure on policymakers and regulatory agencies to provide solutions. Health care must decarbonize along with other sectors of the economy; therefore, health care organizations should be prepared to respond to clima te-related regulations and take advantage of abundant green energy incentives to achieve the largest greenh...

Focus Issue on Quality and Safety: The  Role of Radiologists in High-Value Care Delivery
This focus issue of JACR on quality and safety presents seven articles highlighting the role of radiologists in the stewardship of high-value care delivery. Providing high-value care requires providing the highest quality of care at the lowest cost [1]. In this value equation, in which value is equal to quality divided by cost, value can be improved by increasing the quality of care delivered, through either improved clinical outcomes or improved patient experience or by decreasing the overall cost of care.
