Antibiotics use evaluation among hospitalized adult patients at Jimma Medical Center, southwestern Ethiopia: the way to pave for antimicrobial stewardship
ConclusionHigher antibiotics exposure and their consumption frequently observed among adult hospitalized patients in the study setting. There was a rapid increase in “Watch” group antibiotics use and about two-thirds of the prescribed antibiotics were from this group. The third-generation cephalosporin were the most commonly used class of antibiotics. Generally, higher consumption and inappropriate antibiotics use among hospitalized adult patients showed the need for urgent interventions by implementing Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs in hospitals. Patients ’ acceptance of placebo antibiotics in Japan: a prescription for antimicrobial resistance
ConclusionThe survey results showed that the prescription of “ethical placebos” could be an acceptable option for the patients in Japan. For ethical concerns, an additional literature survey was conducted and the result suggested that such a radical treatment option could be justified, provided that the prescription benefits patients and informed consent is properly obtained. The effect of COVID-19 home quarantine on the psychological state of pharmacy students: a cross-sectional study

Public views of community pharmacy services during the COVID-19 pandemic: a national survey
ConclusionThe overall public perception was inadequate. Significant difference in terms of quality of services was detected in the presence and absence of a community pharmacist during the crisis. It is recommended that the Order of Pharmacist of Lebanon (OPL) and the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) undergo further steps mainly to enforce the laws concerning dispensing and storage indicators, improve the services in terms of extending the opening hours, ensure the availability of medicines and increase public awareness. Impact of university students ’ awareness and attitudes on vaccination practices for human papillomavirus, and perception on self-sampling for cervical cancer screening
ConclusionHPV vaccine uptake for an immunisation-targeted young female population is low despite moderate knowledge levels. It is plausible that the low rates among females enrolled in particularly the non-health programmes were impacted by misperceived vaccine-associated risks, and misconception that testing and vaccination for HPV and cervical cancer were for those married or sexually active. Self-sampling could offer a potential alternative to sampling via pelvic examination, particularly for societies where premarital sex is seen as a taboo.
