Two cases of diquat poisoning in adolescent children
In this report, we compare two similar cases of juvenile diquat poisoning with dynamic changes in clinical manifestations, laboratory values, and imaging results. For the first time, the difference in whether to perform blood flow perfusion and the time difference of initiation of hemoperfusion had a clear clinical difference in the subsequent effects of diquat poisoning in children with diquat poisoning. Limited evidence is available regarding the efficacy of early hemoperfusion for diquat poisoning; however, the differences in clinical outcomes articulated here highlight the benefits of early and timely hemoperfusion the...

“Quality of Life in Epidermolysis Bullosa” and “Epidermolysis Bullosa Burden of Disease”: Italian translation, cultural adaptation, and pilot testing of two disease-specific questionnaires
ConclusionsThe Italian versions of the QOLEB and EB-BoD provide valuable tools in everyday clinical practice of reference centers, and they allow the participation in multicenter international real-life observational studies as well as in controlled clinical trials. They enable the identification of disease-specific psychological and socioeconomic challenges for EB patients and their families, guiding targeted interventions to ensure appropriate and timely care. Severe cellulitis from methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in a couple of preterm twins: a case report
ConclusionsDue to the characteristic antibiotic resistance of MRSA and the potential complications of those infections in such delicate patients, basic prevention measures still represent the key to avoid the spreading of neonatal MRSA infections in NICUs, which include hand hygiene and strict precautions, as well as screening of patients for MRSA on admission and during hospital stay, routine prophylactic topical antibiotic of patients, enhanced environmental cleaning, cohorting and isolation of positive patients, barrier precautions, avoidance of ward crowding, and, in some units, surveillance, education and decolonizati...

Clinical features of plastic bronchitis in children after congenital heart surgery
ConclusionsChildren with airway abnormalities or right ventricular dysfunction after CHS should be alerted to the development of PB. Pharmacological treatment such as anti-infection, corticosteroids, or improvement of right ventricular function is the basis of PB treatment, while fiberoptic bronchoscopy is an essential tool for the diagnosis and treatment of PB. ECMO assistance is a vital salvage treatment for recurrent critically ill PB patients. (Source: Italian Journal of Pediatrics)
