Prevalence of Methicillin-Resistant < em > Staphylococcus aureus < /em > and Multidrug-Resistant Strains from Patients Attending the Referral Hospitals of Amhara Regional State, Ethiopia
Conclusions and Recommendations. High rates of MDR and methicillin-resistantS. aureus were reported. PCR amplification indicated that 20% of MRSA isolates were the mecA gene carriers. Large-scale studies for the detection of MDR strains of S. aureus including MRSA using molecular techniques should be encouraged in the Amhara region.PMID:37384165 | PMC:PMC10299872 | DOI:10.1155/2023/3848073 (Source: International Journal of Microbiology)

Antimicrobial Susceptibility of < em > Salmonella < /em > Isolated from Chickens and Humans in Wau, South Sudan
CONCLUSION: Antimicrobial resistant isolates were isolated in both chickens and humans. Further, MDR isolates were found in both chicken and human samples, and this is a public health concern. This, therefore, calls for concerted efforts to educate producers and consumers on public health, food safety, food hygiene in food production, and enhancement of surveillance programmes on zoonotic bacteria and antimicrobial susceptibility.PMID:37362785 | PMC:PMC10287519 | DOI:10.1155/2022/8570081 (Source: International Journal of Microbiology)

Potential Antimicrobe Producer of Endophytic Bacteria from Yellow Root Plant ( < em > Arcangelisia flava < /em > (L.)) Originated from Enggano Island
Int J Microbiol. 2022 Nov 16;2022:6435202. doi: 10.1155/2022/6435202. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTExploration studies of endophytic bacteria from Arcangelisia flava (L.) and their potential have not much been conducted. This research aims to explore and characterize the antimicrobial activity of endophytic bacteria in A. flava against pathogenic bacteria. This research consists of several steps including the isolation of bacteria, screening of the antimicrobial activity assay using the dual cross streak method, molecular identification through 16s rDNA analysis, and characterization of bioactive compound production through PK...

Identifying Bacteria with Public Health Significance from Farmed Nile Tilapia ( < em > Oreochromis niloticus < /em > ), Zambia
Int J Microbiol. 2023 Jun 9;2023:6650378. doi: 10.1155/2023/6650378. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTZambia has seen rapid development in aquaculture, and in recent years, the industry has experienced disease outbreaks where fish have increasingly become a potential contributor to emerging bacterial zoonotic diseases. The aim of this study was to identify bacterial pathogens with zoonotic potential in apparently healthy fish and water from their habitat. A total of sixty-three fish were sampled, and fifty-nine water samples were collected from the habitats of these fish. Bacteria were cultured from the internal organs of fish and...
