Bioprospecting for < em > Isoetes cangae < /em > Endophytes with Potential to Promote Plant Growth
Int J Microbiol. 2023 Aug 21;2023:5992113. doi: 10.1155/2023/5992113. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTIsoetes cangae is a native plant found only in a permanent pond in Serra dos Carajás in the Amazon region. Plant-associated microbial communities are recognized to be responsible for biological processes essential for the health, growth, and even adaptation of plants to environmental stresses. In this sense, the aims of this work were to isolate, identify, and evaluate the properties of endophytic bacteria isolated from I. cangae. The bioprospecting of potentially growth-promoting endophytes required the following steps to be ta...

Strategies for the Development of Bioprotective Cultures in Food Preservation
Int J Microbiol. 2022 Dec 14;2022:6264170. doi: 10.1155/2022/6264170. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTConsumers worldwide are increasingly demanding food with fewer ingredients, preferably without chemical additives. The trend called "Clean Label" has stimulated the development and commercialization of new types of bioprotective bacterial cultures. These bacteria are not considered new, and several cultures have been available on the market. Additionally, new bioprotective bacteria are being identified to service the clean label trend, extend the shelf life, and, mainly, improve the food safety of food. In this context, the lacti...

Antioxidant and Enzyme Inhibitory Potential of < em > Streptomyces < /em > sp. G-18 Grown in Various Media
This study aimed to investigate the influence of different growth media on biomass production and the antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory potential of a crude extract obtained from Streptomyces sp. G-18 isolated from high altitudinal soil of Nepal. The highest dry weight growth was observed in R2YE medium (184 mg/L), followed by R5 (144 mg/L), YEME (38 mg/L), and R5M media (30 mg/L). The crude extract showed notable antioxidant activities against free radicals. The highest alpha-amylase inhibition was observed in the R2YE medium, and worthy lipase and tyrosinase inhibition was observed in the YEME medium. However, only the R...
