The Interdependence of Blood Pressure and Glucose in Vietnam
ConclusionThis study provided statistical evidence of a feedback loop between systolic BP and BG. BMI and WC were confirmed to be their primary explanatory factors. Saturated fat intake and physical activity were identified as possible targets of intervention for overweight and obesity, and indirectly for reducing systolic BP and BG. Harmful/hazardous alcohol intake was identified as a target of intervention for systolic BP. (Source: High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Prevention)

The Role of Using HEART Score to Risk Stratify Chest Pain Among Emergency Department High Utilizers
AbstractThe HEART score is used to effectively risk stratify undifferentiated chest pain patients in the Emergency Department (ED). It is unclear whether such risk stratification can be applied among ED high utilizers. We aim to determine the efficacy and safety of using the HEART score to predict 30-day short-term major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in ED high utilizers. We conducted a retrospective, observational study in which ED high utilizers were defined as patients who had four or more ED visits within the past 12 months. ED high utilizers presenting at the study ED with chest pain were enrolled. Patients in which t...

Prevalence of Hypertension in Homeless Adults: An Interprofessional Education Community-Based Health Fairs Cross-Sectional Study in Urban Long Beach, California
ConclusionThis study demonstrated a high prevalence of hypertension in the homeless community in Long Beach, California with high risk of cardio-vascular events or strokes. This works sheds new light on an issue of major public health significance and points to the need for fostering IPE community-based health fairs intervention program for the US homeless population. Study of Cellular Aging in a Cohort of Patients with Heart Failure
ConclusionsTL is shorter in patients with HF when compared with age and gender balanced controls. The shortening of TL is independent of age, gender and degree of kidney function, and does not correlate with LVEF decrease or functional status. Characteristics of Circadian Blood Pressure Pattern of Hypertensive Patients According to Localization of Fragmented QRS on Electrocardiography
ConclusionsPresence of fQRS in anterior leads is significantly associated with non-dipping BP pattern in hypertensive patients. Therefore, localization of fQRS on ECG may provide useful information regarding further risk assessment of hypertensive subjects. (Source: High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Prevention)

Blood Pressure Target Achievement Under Monotheraphy: A Real-Life Appraisal
ConclusionsOur data showed a persistent use of monotherapy in the clinical practice, though with unsatisfactory BP control, especially in light of the BP treatment targets suggested by the last hypertension guidelines. (Source: High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Prevention)

Practice Recommendations for Diagnosis and Treatment of the Most Common Forms of Secondary Hypertension
AbstractThe vast majority of hypertensive patients are never sought for a cause of their high blood pressure, i.e. for a ‘secondary’ form of arterial hypertension. This under detection explains why only a tiny percentage of hypertensive patients are ultimately diagnosed with a secondary form of arterial hypertension. The prevalence of these forms is, therefore, markedly underestimated, although, they can involve a s many as one-third of the cases among referred patients and up to half of those with difficult to treat hypertension. The early detection of a secondary form is crucial, because if diagnosed in a timely mann...

Nutraceuticals in Chronic Coronary Syndromes: Preclinical Data and Translational Experiences
AbstractNon-pharmacological treatments have always been considered important in the management of Chronic Coronary Syndromes. Nutraceuticals ("Nutrition" +"Pharmaceutical") could fall both under the definition of non-pharmacological treatment and pharmacological one or, probably more correctly, in the middle of these two kinds of therapies. However, the word “nutraceuticals” never appears in the latest guidelines on this issue. This is probably determined by the fact that evidences on this topic are scarce and most of the published articles are based on preclinical data while translational experienc...

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Hypertension Among Young Adults in Albania
ConclusionsNewly established ACC/AHA rule led to a significant  increase in the proportion of hypertension among the Albanian populations. Similarly, there was a significant difference in the impact of some socioeconomic factors on hypertension as per both rules. Implementation of the prevention and control programs of hypertension are required to increase th e awareness of the bad impact of hypertension. Covariables of Myocardial Function in Women and Men with Increased Body Mass Index
ConclusionsAmong subjects with increased BMI, GLS was higher in women than men. Lower GLS was associated with abdominal obesity in both sexes, and with impaired glucose metabolism in men, and with higher arterial stiffness in women.Trial registrationhttps://www.clinicaltrials.gov NCT02805478, first registered 20.06.16.
