Occurrence and significance of elevated D-dimer levels in different types of osteomyelitis: a clinical study
CONCLUSIONS: No significant correlation was found between D-dimers and osteomyelitis, including positive bacterial cultures, implant-related osteomyelitis, or osteomyelitis without trauma. However, 40% of the patients had higher D-dimer levels.PMID:38639505 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35894 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

A case of synovial chondromatosis of the knee with 87 free bodies and review of literature
CONCLUSIONS: The patient had several synovial chondromas, a rare disease. Synovial chondromatosis is a benign disorder; however, growing synovium can cause pyogenic cartilage nodules. Most loose bodies in joints can abrade and degenerate articular cartilage, causing long-term discomfort. Thus, an early-stage procedure to remove loose bodies and carefully excise synovial tissue is necessary to treat this condition.PMID:38639506 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35895 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

The factors influencing the occurrence of post-ischemic stroke depression and its relationship with the burden score of cerebral small vessel disease
CONCLUSIONS: Age, MMSE score, BI index, NIHSS score, plasma fibrinogen concentration, homocysteine level, red blood cell distribution width, and CSVD burden score are all major influencing factors in the occurrence of PSD. The combination model based on MMSE, NIHSS, and CSVD scores presented a valuable approach to predicting PSD.PMID:38639507 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35896 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Risk and benefit of reinitiating antiplatelet therapy after spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the findings, reinitiating antiplatelet therapy after spontaneous ICH appears to be generally safe. However, the benefits in terms of reducing the risk of all-cause mortality are not evident and require confirmation through large-scale, long-term, prospective, randomized controlled trials.PMID:38639508 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35897 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Pollybeak deformity in rhinoplasty: prevention and treatment
CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that excessive supra-tip scarring is not directly related to a surgical error but rather depends on the patient and tissue healing. Care should be taken to avoid over-resecting the bony dorsum. Tip support should be provided to prevent inefficient tip support from causing an under-projected tip. However, efforts should be made to minimize supra-tip dead space and possibly proceeding pollybeak formation through proper bandaging.PMID:38639509 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35898 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Quality of life in oncologic patients after maxillectomy operations: clinical case series on different rehabilitation protocols
CONCLUSIONS: Although the type of reconstruction procedure depends on the type of maxillectomy to be performed and on the general health situation of each patient, the impact of the rehabilitation protocol on the patients' QoL should be accounted for when planning the treatment.PMID:38639511 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35900 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Exploring the impact of dexmedetomidine on short-term outcomes in critically ill sepsis-associated encephalopathy patients
CONCLUSIONS: Dexmedetomidine administration was significantly associated with reduced short-term mortality among patients with sepsis-associated encephalopathy in the ICU. However, it also prolonged ICU and hospital stays and increased the incidence of VAP.PMID:38639512 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35901 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Effect of Nutrition and Behavior Modification Program (NBMP) on maternal and neonatal outcomes among hyperglycemic mothers
CONCLUSIONS: The study's conclusions draw attention to the possible roles that maternal wellness, physical activity, and diet may have in reducing risks for both hyperglycemic mothers and their newborns. The NBMP resulted in higher adherence to lifestyle changes. Further research on a larger sample of hyperglycemic mothers is recommended to expand the generalizability of the findings.PMID:38639514 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35903 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Evaluation of prediabetes patients in terms of metabolic syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: Hypertension, dyslipidemia, abdominal obesity, and metabolic obesity increased in the coexistence of prediabetes and MetS. At the same time, the coexistence of prediabetes and MetS was associated with higher systolic blood pressure, postprandial blood sugar, and LDL levels. Prediabetic individuals accompanied by MetS are at greater metabolic risk.PMID:38639515 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202404_35904 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)
