Effect of Moderate Static Magnetic Fields on Mice Oocyte Vitrification: Calcium-Related Genes Expression
This study provides a deeper understanding of the effects of moderate SMF and vitrification on the expression of calcium channel genes in GV and MII oocytes. The results suggest that applying a 20 mT SMF can help prevent cryoinjury and enhance the characteristics of vitrified-warmed oocytes.PMID:38527284 | DOI:10.1089/bio.2022.0200 (Source: Biopreservation and Biobanking)

Catalase and Uric Acid Prevent Morphological Damage to the Sperm Flagella of < em > Colossoma macropomum < /em > During 96 Hours at Low Storage Temperatures
Biopreserv Biobank. 2024 Mar 22. doi: 10.1089/bio.2022.0213. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOxidative stress is one of the main causes of loss of sperm function during chilled storage. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the effects of a fructose-based extender, which was supplemented with catalase or uric acid, on the motility, viability, morphological integrity, and lipid peroxidation (LPO) of Colossoma macropomum spermatozoa. Sperm was diluted in extenders containing catalase (0; 0.1; 0.8; and 1.5 kU/L) or uric acid (0; 0.25; 0.5; and 1.0 mmol/L) and then stored at 4.3 ± 0.6°C for 96 hours. The chilling storag...

Evaluation of Collection and Processing Conditions for Gene Expression Analysis Using Human Myeloid Cells
Conclusions: Our study provided important clues for establishing a sample handling approach for gene expression analysis with purified cell fractions from human PBMCs. To keep the variation of gene expression to a minimum, samples should be delivered at 4°C within 48 hours before processing.PMID:38526566 | DOI:10.1089/bio.2023.0072 (Source: Biopreservation and Biobanking)

Technology for Biobanking of Epididymal Spermatozoa from Patient with Obstructive Azoospermia: Case Report about Baby Born after Conventional Freezing Only with a Nonpermeable Cryoprotectant 360 kDa Polyvinylpyrrolidone
Biopreserv Biobank. 2024 Mar 18. doi: 10.1089/bio.2023.0032. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis publication reports, for the first time, the birth of a healthy child after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) of motile spermatozoa after conventional ("slow") freezing of epididymal spermatozoa using 5% polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) of high molecular weight (360 kDa). Cryopreservation solution with 10% PVP was added to 30 µL of spermatozoa suspension in a 1:1 ratio, with a final PVP concentration of 5%. Then, polycarbonate capillaries for oocyte denudation with a diameter of 170 µm were filled with 60 µL of the resulting ...
