Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Awareness and Acceptability for Primary Prevention of Cervical Cancer in Pakistan: A Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSION: It is important to address the knowledge gaps existing in the community about HPV vaccine acceptability and barriers against it for the successful rollout of the HPV vaccination program in Pakistan. Mass awareness campaigns about HPV, HPV vaccine, and cervical cancer are needed to increase the acceptability of HPV vaccine among public at the time of reintroducing HPV vaccine.PMID:38546064 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.813 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Prevalence of BK and JC Polyomaviruses among Patients with Breast Cancer
DISCUSSION: The findings of the current investigation demonstrate that there was an absence of JC virus detection in the breast biopsy. Additionally, a small fraction of patients diagnosed with ductal carcinoma exhibited a low prevalence of genotype IV polyomavirus BK at a rate of 2%. However, in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the incidence of BKV and JCV in breast cancer, a substantial number of breast samples must undergo investigation.PMID:38546065 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.821 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

A Comparative Analysis on the Potential Anticancer Properties of Tetrahydrocannabinol, Cannabidiol, and Tetrahydrocannabivarin Compounds Through In Silico Approach
CONCLUSION: Overall, in silico predictions of the three cannabinoid compounds revealed that they are good candidates for oral drug formulation. Among the three cannabinoids, THCV is an excellent anticancer aspirant for future chemotherapy with the most favorable results in drug-likeness and ADMET analysis, pharmacological properties evaluation, and cytotoxicity assessment results. Further study on bioevaluation of compounds is needed to elucidate their potential pharmacological activities.PMID:38546067 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.839 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

High P16INK4A Expression, Keratinizing Features, and Surgical Margin-Free Status are Associated with Improved Survival in Patients with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinomas
CONCLUSION: P16INK4A positive staining, early stages, negative cervical lymph node infiltration, and free-surgical margins are associated with better prognosis in OSCC patients. The study emphasizes the importance of early detection and the potential use of p16INK4A and other clinical variables to stratify OSCC patients with high risks of recurrence and worse overall survivals.PMID:38546068 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.857 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Exploring Gender Disparities in Factors Influencing Colorectal Cancer Screening Compliance in Singapore
CONCLUSION: Low compliance with CRC screening was observed in Singapore. Targeted interventions should address gender-specific factors and highlight CRC screening guidelines as a crucial component of cancer education for entire screening eligible population in order to improve CRC screening compliance.PMID:38546069 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.867 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Determinants of Quit Attempts and Short-Term Abstinence among Smokeless Tobacco Users in India: Global Adult Tobacco Survey, 2016-17
CONCLUSION: Quit advice by healthcare providers is an influential determinant of a quit attempt, and this intervention needs to be scaled up. The media messages and warning labels were effective among those who considered quitting after noticing them. Cessation methods can help prolong the abstinence from smokeless tobacco, but the reach of cessation methods is limited.PMID:38546070 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.875 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Integrative Bioinformatics Analysis Reveals Potential Target Genes and PTEN Signaling in Breast Cancer and Effect of Zingiber officinale (Ginger) and Allium sativum (Garlic) extract on It
CONCLUSION: Taken together, we introduce a number of novel promising diagnostic biomarkers for breast cancer. The use of garlic and ginger in the treatment of cancer can be useful. This action is probably through the antioxidant mechanism, and regulation of the expression of cancer related genes such as PTEN.PMID:38546072 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.893 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)
