Evaluation of the Cutoff Point and Diagnostic Value of the Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio in Predicting Ovarian Cancer Compared to Pathological Findings
CONCLUSION: High NLR in combination with tumor markers including CA125, HE4 and CEA were associated with malignancy in patients with ovarian mass. More attention and further examinations should be devoted for patients with ovarian mass having high NLR and abnormal tumor markers levels to detect the probable malignancy as soon as possible.PMID:38546079 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.971 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Design and Development of Gold/reduced Graphene Oxide Nanocomposite loaded with Cyclophosphamide: Potential Application in Treatment of Breast Cancer
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, our findings demonstrate that the gold-decorated reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite enhances treatment efficacy and significantly increases apoptosis and cell death induction. As a result, CP-loaded Au-rGO-based compounds could be a promising treatment for breast cancer.PMID:38546083 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.1007 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

IL-6 and IL-10 Levels in Rats Blood Plasma as Immune Responses Post Radioiodine (I-131) Administration
CONCLUSION: The highest increase in IL-6 and IL-10 levels occurred respectively in the first 0.5 hours 8 times and in the first 0.25 hours 1.47 times compared to controls. Internal irradiation with radioiodine resulted in a significant increase in immune cells in exposed blood plasma characterized by the production of the cytokines IL-6 and IL-10. This appears to be a response of immune cells to reduce or stop inflammatory reactions through the release of anti-inflammatory cytokines in an effort to prevent excessive inflammatory responses that can damage cells and tissues.PMID:38546084 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.1017 (...

Prognostic Values of CD8+, PARP, and EGFR on Overall Survival in Patients with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with low CD8+, positive PARP, and positive EGFR expressions seem to be associated with poorer overall survival in TNBC. After approximately one year of follow-up, higher survival was observed in patients with high CD8+, negative PARP, and negative EGFR. Staging remains the main predictor of TNBC survival. Therefore, early detection and treatment of TNBC are essential to improve survival.PMID:38546085 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.1025 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Curcumin Inhibits the PPAR δ-p-Akt-GLUT1 Pathway and Ameliorates the Antiproliferative Effects of Doxorubicin in MDA-MB-231 Cells
CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrates that regulation of GLUT1 by curcumin via the PPARδ/Akt signaling improves the efficacy of doxorubicin by promoting its growth inhibitory effects in MDA-MB-231 cells.PMID:38546086 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.1035 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

In vitro Evaluation of Anti-Cancer Potential of Different Solvent Extracts Derived from Clerodendrum Infortunatum Linn against Cervical Cancer
CONCLUSION: Notably, Clerodendrum infortunatum exhibited the ability to initiate early apoptosis, halt the cell cycle at the S and G2M phases, and diminish levels of reactive oxygen species significantly. The gene expression analysis revealed an influence on the BCL-2 gene. To sum up, this research underscores the encouraging cytotoxic and antioxidant attributes of Clerodendrum infortunatum, implying its potential for cervical cancer treatment.PMID:38546089 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.1065 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

The Relationship between Religious Well-Being, Existential Well-Being, Fear of Progression and Quality of Life in Patients with Cancer: The Mediating Role of Hope
CONCLUSION: A significant positive relationship between hope and quality of life, as well as religious well-being and hope, suggests the influential effects of hope and religious well-being on improving quality of life in patients with cancer. Negative relationships between fear of progression and hope conclude that managing fear of progression may be an important factor in increasing hope and improving quality of life in patients with cancer.PMID:38546091 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.1087 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Enhancing Women's Quality of Life: Exploring the Impact of Mastectomy with and without Breast Reconstruction among Breast Cancer Survivors in Iraq
CONCLUSION: Contrary to the anticipated benefits of BR, our findings suggest that women who underwent the procedure reported a lower QoL compared to those who did not. The outcomes highlight the discrepancy between expected and actual benefits of BR, suggesting a pressing need for comprehensive rehabilitation programs. These programs should aim to enhance the QoL for post-mastectomy patients and provide in-depth counseling to align expectations with the potential realities of BR.PMID:38546092 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.3.1097 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)
