The Effects of School Closures on COVID-19: A Cross-Country Panel Analysis
ConclusionResults suggest that school closure is effective in reducing the number of people who are infected with COVID-19. Unlike what has been suggested in previous analyses or with regard to other diseases, its efficacy continues to be detectable up to 100 days after the introduction of the policy. How Did the Affordable Care Act Affect Risky Health Behaviors?

Population-Based Testing for Undiagnosed Hepatitis C: A Systematic Review of Economic Evaluations
ConclusionOverall, the international evidence supports the potential cost effectiveness of birth cohort, universal, and age-based general population testing, but is caveated by study generalisability, specifically the transferability of findings from one jurisdiction to another, and institutional variations in healthcare delivery systems and budgetary constraints. The cost effectiveness of each approach will vary according to population- and health system-specific characteristics such as epidemiological context, testing coverage, linkage to care and capacity to treat. Given issues regarding the transferability of economic ...

Episcissors-60 for Mediolateral Episiotomy: Evaluation of Clinical and Economic Evidence to Inform NICE Medical Technologies Guidance
AbstractObstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) occurs in 2.9% of all vaginal births in the UK and can result in faecal incontinence. Where there is a clinical need for episiotomy, OASI can be minimised by accurate selection of the optimum angle of mediolateral episiotomy. Episcissors-60 are adapted surgical scissors incorporating a guide-limb to help achieve an accurate angle of mediolateral episiotomy. The ability of Episcissors-60 to reduce OASI by preventing inaccurate visual estimates of episiotomy angles was considered by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as part of the Medical Technologies E...

Cost-Utility Analysis of Discontinuing Antidepressants in England Primary Care Patients Compared with Long-Term Maintenance: The ANTLER Study
ConclusionsDiscontinuation of antidepressants was unlikely to be cost effective compared with maintenance for currently well patients on long-term antidepressants. However, this analysis provides no information on the wider impact of antidepressants. Our findings provide information on the potential impact of discontinuing long-term maintenance antidepressants and facilitate improving guidance  for shared patient–clinician decision making.Trial RegistrationEudraCT number 2015-004210-26; ISRCTN number ISRCTN15969819. From Spreadsheets to Script: Experiences From Converting a Scottish Cardiovascular Disease Policy Model into R
The objective of this exercise was to convert the Scottish Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Policy Model from Excel to R and discuss the lessons learnt throughout this process. The CVD model is a competing risk state transition cohort model. Four health economists, with varied experience of R, attempted to replicate an identical model structure in R based on the model in Excel and reproduce the intermediate and final results. Replications varied in their use of specialist health economics packages in addition to standard data management packages. Two versions of the CVD model were created in R along with a Shiny app. Version 1...
