Bacterial Contamination during Continuous Administration of Liquid Enteral Nutrition Formula in a Sterile Sealed Bag: A Prospective Interventional Study
Conclusion: There was no association between bacterial contamination and continuous administration of liquid EN formula from a sterile sealed bag for 24 h. Therefore, this study recommends continuous administration of EN from a sterile sealed bag for 24 h without changing the EN formula under those limited conditions.Ann Nutr Metab (Source: Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism)

The Influence of Fluid Intake Behavior on Cognition and Mood among College Students in Baoding, China
Conclusions: Reasonable fluid intake behavior may be beneficial to improve the cognition and mood of college students. The fluid intake behavior, which is consuming water 200 mL each time and 8 times per day, is recommended. More studies are needed to advise people to have health-beneficial fluid intake behavior.Ann Nutr Metab (Source: Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism)

The Effect of the Temperature of Plain or Sweetened Water on Body Composition in Rats
Conclusion: Cold plain water decreased body fat and increased lean body mass with no effect on total body weight. Sucrose-sweetened water had a better impact on body composition irrespective of the temperature of the beverage. The beneficial effects are mainly due to increased energy expenditure rather than variations in energy intake. Thus, the energy cost of warming the water seems to have been derived from an increase in fat oxidation.Ann Nutr Metab (Source: Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism)

Effects of a 14-Day Hydration Intervention on Individuals with Habitually Low Fluid Intake
Conclusions: Increasing fluid intake in individuals with habitually low TWI increases 24-h urine volume and decreases urine osmolality but does not result in changes in TBW or BV. These findings are in agreement with previous work indicating that TWI interventions lasting 3 days [2] to 4 weeks [3] do not result in changes in TBW. Current evidence would suggest that the benefits of increasing TWI are not related changes in TBW.Ann Nutr Metab (Source: Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism)

The Relationship between %BML, Urine Color, Thirst Level and Urine Indices of Hydration Status
Conclusion: When 3 markers indicated dehydration levels,UOSM and USG were greater than euhydrated cut points. When 2 markers indicated dehydration levels, USG was higher than the euhydrated cut point. Additionally,UOSM and USG were significantly lower when zero or 1 marker indicated dehydration levels. Thus, the WUT criteria are a useful tool to assess hydration status. Athletes, coaches, sports scientists, and medical professions can use this strategy in the field settings to optimize their performance and health without consuming money and time.Ann Nutr Metab (Source: Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism)

Early Coaching to Increase Water Intake in CKD
Conclusions: With CKD G1, the CIWI leads to the preservation of the renal function with its increase of GFR per 1 mL/min/m2/per year in comparison with the same water intake. In CKD G2, the CIWI prevents physiological and pathological loss of renal function, and RFR above 50% aids restoration of eGFR both in CKD G1-2. ECIWIC trial demonstrates benefit of CIWI in patients with CKD 1 –2 and preserved RFR.Ann Nutr Metab (Source: Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism)

The Global Kidney Health Atlas: Burden and Opportunities to Improve Kidney Health Worldwide
CKD is a growing public health problem. The Global Kidney Health Atlas (GKHA) is an important initiative of the International Society of Nephrology. The GKHA aims to improve the understanding of inter- and intranational variability across the globe, focusing on capacity for kidney care delivery. The GKHA survey was launched in 2017 and then again in 2019, using the same core data, supplemented by information about dialysis access and conservative care. Based on a WHO framework of the 6 building blocks essential for health care, the GKHA assesses capacity in 6 domains: information systems, services delivery, workforce, fina...

What Is Groundwater? How to Manage and Protect Groundwater Resources
Among the water resources on earth, groundwater is a resource hidden in the rocks of the earth ’s crust. For various reasons, notably the fact that this water is not directly visible but also as a consequence of education and longstanding traditions, the properties and physical laws governing groundwater are not well known outside the circle of hydrogeologists, the scientists specialists of the survey, management, and protection of groundwater resources. This resource has lots of advantages, notably when compared to surface water, and is thus largely used worldwide for many purposes: agriculture, tap water, industries, b...
