Systematic investigation of surgical site infections (SSI) in plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery (ERCS): Feedback
Ann Chir Plast Esthet. 2023 Jul 14:S0294-1260(23)00074-2. doi: 10.1016/j.anplas.2023.06.013. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSurgical site infection (SSI) in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery (ERCP) is quite uncommon compared to other surgical specialities but remains one of the main complications. The aim of our study was to provide feedback on the systematic investigation of SSI in ERCP. This is a monocentric retrospective study, including all paediatric and adult patients who have undergone ERCP surgery between 01/01/2014 and 31/12/2021. During this period, the department systematically investigated all SSI ca...

Latissimus dorsi seroma prevention with running quilting suture using barbed suture
Ann Chir Plast Esthet. 2023 Jul 8:S0294-1260(23)00072-9. doi: 10.1016/j.anplas.2023.06.011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDorsal seroma is a common complication of autologous latissimus dorsi flap (ALDF) in breast reconstruction, and has limited the use of this technique, despite its aesthetic success. It is important to find a right technique to limit the incidence of seroma formation after ALDF. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and tolerance of a dorsal quilting technique called "running quilting" using barbed resorbable suture in seroma prevention. Three hundred patients who underwent ALDF breast ...

Reconstruction of penile skin loss by superficial circumflex iliac perforator (SCIP) pedicled flap after Fournier's gangrene
CONCLUSION: The SCIP pedicled flap seems us to be a safe technique for penile skin reconstruction and a good alternative to the usual skin grafts, especially regarding the lower risk of contracture, and low donor-site morbidity.PMID:37429802 | DOI:10.1016/j.anplas.2023.06.012 (Source: Annales de Chirurgie Plastique et Esthetique)

3D printing in plastic surgery, an accessible tool: Technical note around a case of otopoiesis assisted by 3D model
Ann Chir Plast Esthet. 2023 Jul 8:S0294-1260(23)00070-5. doi: 10.1016/j.anplas.2023.06.009. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACT3D printing has been used in the medical field since the beginning of the 21st century. Over the years, it has been democratized and has become an accessible tool at almost no cost, provided that a 3D printer is available. The surgeon can thus easily integrate it into his practice and techniques in the operating room, provided that he learns to use 3D image processing software. In order to illustrate the whole process, from the genesis and processing of the 3D image to its application in the operating r...
