[Mastopexy].
Abstract Mastopexy is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. Complications are rare but imperfections in results can occur. The main imperfections affect the nipple-areolar complex, the volume of the segment II, the progression of the segment III as well as the cicatrization. We will consider the different techniques to prevent or treat them in case of occurrence. PMID: 31543279 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Annales de Chirurgie Plastique et Esthetique)

[Secondary digit reconstruction of mutilated hand].
Abstract Traumatic digit amputation generates functional, aesthetic and psychological disabilities. Such post-traumatic consequences call for a rigorous therapeutic approach, aiming at an early secondary surgical procedure - which is ideally to be performed before the patients psychologically recover from their initial trauma. The therapeutic principle consists in improving the global function of the hand, basically aiming at re-creating a quality pollici-digital pinch, ideally thin, stable, sensitive, strong, mobile enough, but also, when possible, at improving the aesthetic aspect of the hand. The therapeutic ar...

[Secondary surgeries in craniosynostosis and faciocraniosynostosis].
Abstract Secondary surgeries for single craniosynostosis surgeries are mainly esthetic refinements rather than functional indications. However, cranioplasties for bone defects correction or insufficient corrections may be undertaken. Management of syndromic craniosynostoses usually requires multiple surgical interventions, the sequence of which might vary per the genetic mutation. It is commonplace to start with posterior vault expansion before age 6 months, then treat cerebellar tonsillar herniation by the age of twelve months, and delay fronto-facial monobloc advancement until at least 18-24 months of age. Ventr...

[Secondary cheiloplasty in the treatment of cleft lip and palates].
Teissiier N Abstract In the course of treatment of cleft lip and palates, the quality of primary cheilo-rhinoplasty is essential to limit aesthetic and functional complications. This is why these primary reconstructions come under the domain of specialised centres with multidisciplinary teams. Unfortunately, residual imperfections often remain, especially in bilateral clefts, and secondary cheiloplasties represent for us a complex challenge. They aim at functional and aesthetic correction, and the choice of time is very random and depends largely on the psychological repercussions of the deformation in the child. ...

The surgical challenges are numerous, and the therapeutic weapons are multiple. We propose an analysis of these treatments by the prism of their pitfalls and their limits. The complications of the main surgical procedures are described as well as the details of the rework necessary to cope with them or to quickly correct the defects. Moreover, the result limits are detailed with suggestions to improve them. Finally, we develop the necessary iterative treatments or new therapeutic proposals t...

[Complications of body lifts].
Abstract Many complications can occur after body lift surgery if the surgeon does not follow the rules. These complications can be general or only local and aesthetic but anyway very difficult to fix. Therefore, the surgeon must know the very efficient ways to avoid them. Abstract Due to an increasing number of major weight loss after bariatic surgery, the demand for body-coutouring surgery increase in paralell. Among all the technics which can be realized, brachioplastyis one of them. The goal is to reach a functionnal but an aesthetic improvement too. The literature show that the rate of major complication is very low (or not reported in the majority of the series). Minor complication is more common : hypertrophic scar, large scar, paresthesia, and wound dehiscence. Re-operation can be asked by the patient in order to improve the result. [Medical liability for secondary surgery].
Abstract Taking care of a patient for secondary surgery is an important moral, ethical and legal responsibility. The patient is expecting a lot of this recovery. A new failure is hardly not acceptable to him. Before agreeing to operate, the new surgeon must well evaluate the possibilities of success and the operational risks, as well as the psychological aspects of this recovery. He must also inform the patient extensively. In front of the technical difficulty of these secondary surgeries, a new failure is always possible. It can lead to a judicial questioning of the last surgeon. The latter is responsible only fo...

Abstract Breast ptosis surgery (mastopexy with implant fitting) is a difficult task, one which is not without its complications, necessitating frequent secondary surgery. We will be analysing some main causes for failure, as well as their solutions. For discussion, we will propose general principles regarding techniques in the breast ptosis and breast enhancement process. Today there is an alternative to implants, achievable in certain cases, which through autologous lipomodelling reduces risk and modifies breast enhancement techniques. [Postoperative complications after genital gender confirming surgery in transgender women].
Abstract Genital gender affirmation surgery in transgender women is usually performed by single-stage penile inversion vaginoplasty, with creation of vagina, perineal urethral meatus, majora and minora labia, and clitoris. Postoperative functional or aesthetic complications are common, affecting every reconstructed part of the neovulva. Patients should be preoperatively informed of those possible complications. Postoperative close follow-up must be conducted, beginning with therapeutic learning of the self-dilation regimen, detecting and treating any complication, and ending up when complete healing is obtained am...

[Secondary nasal surgery with cleft palates].
Abstract Residual nasal deformity in patients with cleft palate remains the main demand of these patients. Performing primary nasal surgery has significantly improved the results. However, it is still often necessary to improve the nasal morphology. Respect of tissues during primary surgery is essential and allows easier secondary corrections. Anatomical reconstruction greatly facilitates the treatment of secondary deformities. [Secondary surgery of the external ear].
Abstract Secondary surgeries of the external ear can be divided into two categories: secondary otoplasties and secondary ear reconstructions. The most frequent causes of secondary otoplasties are a recurrence, an over-corrected ear, an off-center ear, a prominent lobule, and finally chronic ear pain. Recurrence of the prominence can be treated by a new posterior stitch otoplasty, an Earfold clip, or a frame stitch. The over-corrected ear can be projected either by costal cartilage grafts or by hyaluronic acids. Patients who are unsatisfied of the aesthetic result of their prominent ear correction usually complain ...

[Secondary surgeries in eyelid and orbital surgery].
Abstract If eyelid and orbital surgery is very often particularly rewarding, it can also be deceiving. Moreover, a dysfunction can be added to the aesthetic result, leading to a secondary surgery. Secondary surgeries at the orbital level will mainly relate to problems of volume (container - content), whereas at the eyelid level, it will be problems of position that will be met. These eyelids wrong positionings result from an imbalance of dynamic forces that could have preexisted to the first surgery or is a consequence of that surgery. And it's the clinical trial that will be key, allowing the prevention of compli...

Abstract Flap reconstruction techniques are increasingly desired by French's patients and it represents almost half of breast reconstruction indications in 2017. The main reasons of this statistics are the growing concerns of the patients with breast implant of developing BIA-ALCL, as well as their desire of having a more natural reconstruction results without having any foreign bodies. The multiplication of autologous reconstruction techniques, especially microsurgical techniques which has been popularized in the recent years, makes possible to propose a reconstruction to the majority of patients without an impla...

CONCLUSION: The use of the microvascular coupling system for venous anastomoeis would help reduce the occurrence of venous thrombosis, but larger and prospective studies should be conducted. Abstract The abdominoplasty (AP) is a common type of plastic surgery procedure that removes unsightly and uncomfortable cutaneous and fatty excess from the anterior abdominal wall. In 30% of the cases, the results prove to be insufficient and motivate a request for reintervention which goes from the simple cicatricial revision under local anesthesia to the complete recovery of the procedure. The defects at the origin of the secondary abominoplasty are persistent skin excess, residual fat deposits, scarring malpositions or abnormalities of the umbilicus. The respect of certain technical rules during the primary AP ...

Abstract The unfavorable results in scalp defects treatment are represented essentially by: local flap necrosis; cicatricial alopecia - calvarial contour defects; wide and poorly positioned scalp's scars. The secondary surgeries dealing with the new scalp defect (necrosis or alopecia) include: readvancement of prior flaps-raising a new local flap-tissu expansion - skin grafts - free flaps, bringing skin, muscle or vascularized bone. Their indications depend on the size of this defect, the presence of pericranium, the vascular condition of the scalp and the general condition of the pat...

[Limb necrotizing soft tissue infection (NSTI) and necrotising fasciitis: A bicentric study between 2000 and 2017 on the quality of life and functional impact].
