Ddsep 10
I'm trying to buy DDSEP-- which package should I buy? I was reading that the complete/digital version syllabus is really only just a copy paste of the answer explanations for the Qbank and to save my money and to only buy the question bank. I wanted to see what other people's thoughts were on whether the syllabus was helpful. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rare disciplinary case against Pa. doctor offers glimpse into big business of medical marijuana cards
Interesting article. A patient with some medical background signs up for a telemedicine visit to discuss medical marijuana, feels the experience is lacking appropriate medical work up and files a complaint against the doctor with the medical board. She did get the marijuana card but felt the process was shady, thus the complaint. Some of her concerns seem more related to the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Patient with worsening anxiety and abusing xanax from their PCP.
Long story short, woman with anxiety sees me for follow up. She had been getting xanax 1mg TID from her PCP but last visit she had told me she weaned herself down to half a tablet a day. This is a telehealth visit (which i generally prefer in person but oh well) and I ask her how many she has left and apparently she only has 9 tablets left, despite filling the medication 30 days prior for 90 tablets. I call her out that it would be impossible to have 9 tablets left if she was only using... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cheapest online counseling program
Howdy all, first post, would appreciate some feedback. In short, I'm a non trad student (just turned 40) and would like my last career to be mental health counseling. This stems from me overcoming anxiety, depression, and self doubt myself and I would now like to help others do the same. I enjoy listening to people and believe I am naturally empathetic and would excel as a counselor. The thing is, I'm in kind of a unique situation. Currently I'm a digital nomad residing in South America... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Telehealth work in PM & R
Is anyone doing tele-rehabilitation work either as their primary job or as a moonlighting/side job? COVID opened the gates I think to people accepting and seeing the value of telemedicine, but I'm wondering if there will be more opportunities. I know SFN consulting is something more of my colleagues are getting into. Could one do this via telelhealth, with say the help with a nurse or MA on site? @PMR2008 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Digital Pathology And Working from Home or Abroad?
Anyone here knows of any pathologist working at home or abroad full time signing out cases via digital pathology? I personally don’t know of any. I wouldn’t mind living in another country signing out cases for a living just to enjoy life a little more. If not, anyone knows how much longer before something like this becomes feasible lol? I mean if I can spend a few months in Bora Bora or Hawaii, I would love it. I enjoy traveling and experiencing other cultures. If I could do it while I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ryan Haight Act
I haven't seen anything regarding another suspension or any exceptions as the federal state of emergency ends in 2 weeks. I see a few kids each week on stimulants by telehealth, but they are local so can see me in person w/o too much inconvenience. I did find info in the original law stating covering practitioners are ok within the same practice. Has anyone seen any updates? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Do I really need an EHR to be HIPAA compliant?
I feel like this should be an easy question to answer but I'm struggling to find a clear answer. I am launching a private practice soon and would love to be able to keep notes on my computer in password-protected Word docs. According to HIPAA though, it seems like for digital notes, we are supposed to use an EHR with back-up capabilities and means of locking notes so they become unalterable. My question is, is that rule specifically for people who use EHRs or does it apply to everyone who... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Telemedicine
Anyone do telemedicine and enjoy it or at least not hate it? I'd love to learn more. I don't really want to be a pill mill doc. What's it like? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
