Obtaining disability insurance with a chronic health condition
Hello, Currently in medical school. I've been diagnosed with a chronic health condition when I was in my teens. Obviously, I did not have the foresight to have imagined this would have happened and so I did not get disability insurance that early on... Just to be transparent, I have Crohn's Disease that is difficult to treat. So, most likely, no disability insurance will take me. I could get a rider that excludes CD, but, to be honest, I don't know if this is even worth it. I am under... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Blockbuster new Biologic Drug
I was watching Mad Money when Cramer's guest discussed his company's newest blockbuster drug: Anti-TL1A Antibody. Before any of you scoff at this drug you need to realize that the TNFa drug, Humira, was one of the most profitable drugs ever discovered in the history of the pharmacy/biotech industry. This new biologic is likely going to pass the profitability of TNFa inhibitors as a class. What I would like to contribute to medicine
So, I need some advice regarding a secondary prompt that says the following: What would you like to contribute and be remembered for in medicine? I know I am going to discuss hoping to be remembered as an empathetic and communicative physician by my patients. However, I would also like to discuss my desires to make some sort of contribution to research. In particular, I have always wanted to make significant contributions to the field of autoimmunity and IBD (I have Crohn's). Is this too... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Deathly worried about my future as a pre-med!
Hello all! This is my second post on SDN. I am a biomedical engineering pre-med who is currently in my sophomore year. I am currently in the worst semester I have ever taken in my college career. It was going well at first, but then, and I know it's really stupid, but I heard that the coronavirus was in my University, and since I have a low immune system due to Crohn's and Remicade, I began to skip a lot of classes and now I'm playing catchup. Most likely I will get a a low GPA this... Deathly worried about my future as a pre-med! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What should I do? MD with anxiety and crohns
Hi First of all, I'm no native English speaker so bear with me. Here's my situation: I'm becoming an md soon, med school is almost over, and while I'm happy about graduating, I'm also worried about my career. Crohn's disease I've had crohn's disease (which means lots of diarrhea and belly pain when it's flaring up, otherwise it's okay) for many years. I've only had a few flares, but I don't know how many flare ups I will have in the future - maybe none, maybe 20. Anxiety... What should I do? Torn and worried about what to choose.
Hi dear people, Ever since I was a child I had a dream of becoming a physician. Can't really explain why, but everything health related caught my attention (and still does). Plus I liked being in the dr and dentist office. When I tried for med school in 2012, my application was turned down. In 2013 I got diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. In the beginning I could do without medication, but over time it's gotten worse, now I'm getting regular infusions. I just never imagined that Crohns would... Torn and worried about what to choose.
