What ChatGPT Means for Virtual-First Care
The following is a guest article by Erica Jain, Co-Founder and CEO at Healthie ChatGPT has been dominating headlines since its release in November. While the AI Chatbot has already led to some truly whimsical poetry, comedic greetings, and helpful travel suggestions, it has also started to raise questions about its application in healthcare. ChatGPT is revolutionizing the world – and this will hit healthcare, albeit a bit slower than other industries. Healthcare is inherently conservative and resistant to change, plus liability in a care setting is a massive issue. All that being said, in the 5 to 10-year time horizo...

Wednesday Bible Study: Historical oddity
Sorry for missing regular posting recently. I was dealing with some extremely frustrating technical problems. Will get back to it. Chapter 8 departs in a few ways from what has been our understanding of the situation of the Jewish population in this historical era. Note again the complete lack of any mention of Jerusalem or Judah. The Jews appear to be dispersed throughout the Achaemenid empire, from " India to Ethiopia. " Furthermore it is possible for people to convert to Judaism everywhere in this diaspora, which is basically contrary to the law and custom in all of the previous literature, in which far from being ...

When Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company Says Your Prescription is " Out of stock "
My followers may recall that about a year ago (on August 22, 2023), I blogged about (see https://blog.sstrumello.com/2022/08/generic-crestor-pricing-insanity.html for the post) that I had made a conscious decision to simply disintermediate my own insurance pharmacy benefit to buy an inexpensive generic statin drug because my own pharmacy benefit manager was screwing me. Currently, I ' m covered by Aetna which is now owned by CVS Health, which also owns the  PBM known as Caremark. Caremark was robbing me on the statin. It was overcharging me. They were trying to charge me $33.85 for a 90-day supply of a cheap...

Spouse behavior as a coronary risk factor ?
This is a re-blog from 2010 pages of this site. Hope we have more updates.Spouse behaviour as significant CAD risk factor, is still a valid research concept that shall lead to more productive social “cardiac Interventions” and prevent CAD burden outside the much glamorised cathlab Dr.S.Venkatesan MD American journal of epidemiology in a land mark analysis has found , spouses share the same profile of coronary risk factors .This is a huge finding , considering the fact that , genetic factors are not involved here . So , it is something to do with family diet ? domestic issues, sibling effect ? It is well-k...

The Heat is On
BY KIM BELLARD Attention must be paid: the world is now hotter than it has been in 125,000 years. A week ago, we broke the record for average global temperature. That record was broken the next day.  Later in the week it was broken yet again.  Yeah, I know; weather records are broken all the time, so what’s the big deal?   Well, it is a big deal, and we should all be worried. “It’s not a record to celebrate and it won’t be a record for long,” Friederike Otto, senior lecturer in climate science at the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment, told CNN.   Bill Maguire, a professor a...

Sunday Sermonette: Oink, oink
If you haven ' t already, please see the introduction to the Book of Esther that I posted yesterday. For Ch. 1, the main thing to keep in mind is that it is very unlikely the author intended this to be a story about the real emperor Xerxes. The Hebrew, Ahasuerus, is not the name of any actual Achaemenid emperor and we should assume that we are reading a story about a fictitious, generic emperor. That said, I would not be surprised if the real emperors, including Xerxes, were what we would consider actual sexist pigs. What we can ' t be sure of is how the author intended us to take Vashti ' s act of defiance, refusing to be...

Frailty Correlates with Cognitive Decline
The objective of this work is to determine if frailty is associated with cognitive decline among older adults from different countries. We analyzed the baseline the Study on Global Ageing and Adult Health (SAGE), that includes six countries (Ghana, South Africa, Mexico, China, Russia, and India). A cross-sectional analysis was used to assess how frailty was related with the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) decision tree, while cognitive decline was evaluated using standardized scores of tests used in SAGE. A total of 30,674 participants aged 50 years or older were included. To the best of our knowledge this is the fir...
