Balance and surprising billing Trojan horse to gut reimbursement in general?
Congress Is About to Give Health Insurance Companies the Nuclear Weapon in the War on Physicians The benchmark solution intended to eliminate balance billing will lead to the collapse of the commercial insurance market negotiations with physicians who work in hospitals and drive reimbursement to the lowest levels. www.highyieldscript.com Saw this on the white coat investor forums. Many feel this is the Trojan horse insurances are trying to sneak into law to gut broader reimbursement. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Extracurriculars as Non-Traditional
What is everyone doing for extracurriculars as a non-traditional applicant? I'd love to quit my job, and focus 100% of my time of developing EC's for my application, but that's not feasible as I still need health insurance, money for bills, etc. I currently volunteer at a hospital, and am heavily involved in an education outreach committee for a professional organization I'm in (engineering related, as that is my current occupation. I'm also on a committee at my current employer (after... Extracurriculars as Non-Traditional (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can't afford health insurance and am stressed out
Hello, So I am starting my first year of Medical School at ATSU-SOMA, and I was first misinformed that my health insurance through my job would continue a couple months after I left, but someone just told me that my benefits would end the day I left. Now I am incredibly stressed out because I am already going to be borrowing ~$310,000 (~$78,000/year), and the insurance companies told me I will be paying approximately $250-$280/month for insurance. I can't go on my parents' insurance... Can't afford health insurance and am stressed out (Source: Student Doctor Network)

$42 an hour pharmacist job, would you take it?
have a potential job opportunity. medical marijuana dispensing pharmacist. 90k for the first 3 months, then bumps up to 95k. after that 2.5% raise every year. 40 hours a week. supposedly much much better quality of life compared to retail. can work while sitting down, having an actual lunch, no bitchy customers, etc. i'm hoping it's low key in that management won't always be down your throat. very relaxed, positive, and enriching work environment. health insurance included but no 401k... $42 an hour pharmacist job, would you take it? Student Health Insurance
Hello, I am turning 26 right at the start of medical school (kicked off parent's health insurance plan). Does anyone have advice about opting for the medical school's health insurance plan (bundled medical, dental, and vision at ~1k/quarter) versus trying to apply and get my own individual plan? I live in and will be studying in CA. What is the most cost effective? I am healthy with no prior conditions, but of course want to make sure I have good medical care if needed. Thank you! PCOM vs. CUSOM
Potentially deciding between PCOM-PA and CUSOM. Accepted to CUSOM and on waitlist for PCOM. Is PCOM worth waiting for and changing plans last minute if I get accepted? I think that both schools are very good. I do not have a preference for location, however I know that cost of living in NC is way cheaper than in Philly. Also, CUSOM offers student health insurance (which I will need) and PCOM does not. I know that CUSOM is a newer school but it already has an excellent reputation, does age of... Dropped health insurance
I have a question about health insurance. I am old enough that I no longer qualify for my parent's health insurance, and I live in a state where I don't qualify for medicaid; Also, my school doesn't provide any health insurance plans, however they require you to be on a plan. I was enrolled through that Market place, but got knocked off due to non-payment (they don't show how much you owe on my health insurance website, and I got a month behind... ****). I'm having a hard time finding... Dropped health insurance (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What would a "medicare-for-all" system look like?
It seems inevitable to me the US will adopt a medicare-for-all style healthcare system. The question is when. The health insurance industry has had decades to correct its behavior. In the marketplace of ideas, if you don't appeal to consumers they'll find a larger organization (in this case, government) to fix the problems. Edit: Apologies, if this is re-post. Didn't see similar topic from earlier (Source: Student Doctor Network)

VCU (OOS) vs. Roseman (OOS)
I love both of these schools which is why I’m very torn between them. I'm OOS for both of them so the price is pretty much similar (VCU -$124k w/ mandatory health insurance & Roseman - $124 w/o the health insurance). Here's my list of pros and cons for each: VCU - Pros Proximity to home New CAD/CAM Clinically focused class being close knit - Skit nights Family in VA Option for specialities (don't know if I want to specialize yet) Know a couple... Long story short as possible. I have been trying to get paneled with Health insurance XYZ for eons. I thought it was coming and my contact from there said I could back bill and he would fast track me for approval. I prematurely started seeing patients with this insurance (bad move I KNOW NOW) The ball has been dropped for years, my biller said at one point it was all set then no, then I send all the stuff to Health Insurance XYZ and my contact doesn't receive it. What health insurance are you guys getting for school?
I currently do not have one. I'm going to SCCO and it looks like it doesn't provide health insurance coverage from school. Any suggestions on good and low rate student insurance? I'm not sure if insurance in California is more expensive than North Carolina. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)
