HSCP vs HPSP for someone without prior service
Hello, and thanks in advance for any information y'all can provide! I recently got accepted for Navy HPSP, and I also asked my recruiter to submit me for the HSCP. I searched around for some threads and I read it is a good option over the HPSP for prior service/cheaper schools. My school's tuition is right under 23k and they do list health insurance at 3k (so I believe both HSCP and HPSP covers this idk?). I ran the numbers and after taxes the total pay is around 51k (in the correct... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I received a check for $35.82 last week as a "reward" for being insured for 5 consecutive years. Didn't even know this was a thing...does it continue to go up as time goes by? do other underwriters give these "rewards"? Who do I call for my car and health insurance longevity rewards? California Single-Payer: Implications for Pain?
I've heard that some pain societies are going to come out in opposition, but I can't find anything from CalSIPP yet. I imagine a tsunami of new grads and fellows heading to the south and midwest for jobs if the D's pull this off. California Nightmare: What to Know About Left’s Next Run at Single-Payer Health Care The left never quits. California’s “progressive” politicians are once again sponsoring a bill to create “CalCare,” a “single payer” system of state government-run health insurance. ...

RVU model
Hi everyone, I'm trying to design some payment models for recruiting new psychiatrists and psychologists. Many seem to have a tendency to gravitate towards salary or RVU model with a benefits package over split fee. But when I calculated the total financial value say, at the VA 1.0 FTE, salary, contributions to health insurance premium, 401k (I'm aware there's a pension), vacation days, sick days, federal holidays, loan forgiveness-->I calculated that if you maxed out all your leave time per... Got Out of Retail
Title says it all. There is hope, boys and girls. After working in the horrific conditions as a PIC of a severely understaffed store, I will now be able to sit and eat lunch. I will start my hospital pharmacy career soon, God-willing before I lose all passion for this profession. Salary, PTO, health insurance, hours - everything is an upgrade. These jobs are out there! Apply, apply, apply to these positions with all you have even if you don't have a residency (I don't). Part brag, part F... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Indiana Job
Hi Everyone First time posting on the Anesthesia thread. I’m an ER doc and usually post on that forum. Our hospital here is great in Indiana and I am a W2 here. I really like my position. 403 match, non profit, great health insurance. It’s kind of a gem of a place. Before this I worked at a ton of places that sucked big time. A nice hospital employed position has opened up here for anesthesia and I was wondering if anyone would be interested. I can post more details. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is health insurance generally covered by employer as W2?
Employers only covers a portion of health insurance roughly 50%. Is it generally standard to have to pay 50% of the remaining monthly premium for health insurance as W2? If 1099 I understand, but not sure about w2. Or did I get hosed? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Salaries/benefits in the time of COVID
Looking for Hospital employed and PP jobs as a new fellow in non-desirable locations (but about 2 hours from city) in Midwest and South, wanted to ask 1. is it normal to have to pay part of your health insurance premium (I thought this was normal but then saw another post from @TeslaCoil that seemed to imply his entire health insurance premium was covered. Sorry if I got that wrong though Tesla) 2. is it normal to have to wait a year before getting employer matching 3... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anyone Gone through the gender transition process while in med school?
Just curious to know about how transitioning in medical school is like. I am planning on getting on T during my first year and hopefully top surgery in the next two years. When is the best time to have top surgery while in medical school and how did your peers and educators react to your physical changes as it happened throughout the course of the semester? EDIT: I am aware that many medical schools also cover gender reassignment surgery under the student health insurance. Would love to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Health Insurance Premiums
This is why ER docs will always have plenty of work in-perpetuity until the health care system undergoes drastic changes: I just got notice from Kaiser today that they are going to raise my premiums for 2021. For a family of four and a middle of the road health care package (one of their Silver packages), I'm going to be paying $1796/month premium with $8,200/$16,400 individual / family annual out of pocket maximum. 6 years ago, when I joined Kaiser, I was paying $1035/month for the same...
