Development and validation of a risk prediction model for hospital admission in COVID-19 patients presenting to primary care
CONCLUSION: We derived a risk model using readily available variables at GP assessment to predict hospital admission for COVID-19. It performed accurately across regions and waves. Further validation on cohorts with acquired immunity and newer SARS-CoV-2 variants is recommended.PMID:38682305 | PMC:PMC11060008 | DOI:10.1080/13814788.2024.2339488 (Source: European Journal of General Practice)

Understanding GPs' referral decisions for younger patients with symptoms of cancer: a qualitative interview study
CONCLUSION: While most GPs interpret age criteria flexibly and follow their own judgement and experience when making clinical decisions regarding younger patients, system constraints may be a barrier to timely investigation.PMID:38684377 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0304 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)

Strategies that facilitate the delivery of exceptionally good patient care in general practice: a qualitative study with patients and primary care professionals
CONCLUSION: The addition of concrete and contextual strategies to the IDEAL framework has enhanced its practicality and usefulness for supporting improvement in general practices. Now, a multi-level systems approach is needed to embed these strategies and create an environment where excellence is supported. The refined framework should be developed into a learning tool to support teams in general practice to measure, reflect and improve care within their practice.PMID:38678200 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02352-1 (Source: Primary Care)

Prevalence of risk factors for development of cardiovascular diseases in urban and rural areas of Eastern Croatia: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: In the examined sample, the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors is generally high. Participants from rural areas are significantly more susceptible to cardiovascular risk factors than participants from urban areas.PMID:38669153 | DOI:10.21101/cejph.a7709 (Source: Central European Journal of Public Health)
