Duolingo - An excellent example of eLearning and gamification
I've been using Duolingo to study Spanish. The format makes a lot of sense to me and is an excellent example of using gamification principles in eLearning. Take a look at the article from the eLearning Mind website: http://elearningmind.com/now-youre-speaking-language-duolingo-teaches-us-microlearning/I appreciate the degree of user control, easily managed modules, multiple means of interaction, user reinforcement and the opportunity to ask questions/engage in social learning with other students. If you haven't seen Duolingo, (http://www.duolingo.com) it's very much worth a visit. And to top it off, it's free! (Source: The Digital Hornbook)

CME: Online Medical Education Could Revolutionize Training in Emerging Markets
A recent article published in Forbes argues that online medical education has the opportunity to revolutionize training for doctors and nurses in emerging markets. Internet-based learning tools “will increase the number of health workers globally and train them to provide high-quality care in places that desperately need it,” writes Will Greene, who runs TigerMine Ventures, an advisory firm that helps companies and organizations in Southeast Asia. Minds on the Edge
The one-hour television program zeros in on wrenching and confounding situations that are playing out every day in homes and hospital ERs, on city streets and school campuses, in courtrooms and in jails, as Americans struggle with the challenges of severe mental illness. Produced for PBS by the Fred Friendly Seminars using their signature format of a hypothetical scenario, the program considers the case of a college student who develops mental illness while at school. Her professor knows something is wrong, but is unsure how to approach her and whether it is even legal to contact her parents. Upset and confused when they s...

Misinformation about IVF
In fact marketing, paired with despair, can work well enough to convince people to demand treatments for which there is no scientific evidence and in spite of their own better judgment. Misinformation is the worst thing for patients trying to navigate the baby business. With so much information out there, it is difficult for people to separate fact from fiction.http://www.bionews.org.uk/page.asp?obj_id=484018&PPID=484125&sid=708 This situation is much worse in India, where most patients are not sophisticated enough to do their own homework. They naively trust everything their doctor tells them - and this blind...
