As my condition was benign, I didn’t HAVE to have the hysterectomy. I chose to have the operation, as the fibroids were getting bigger by the month, and causing bloating (especially after eating) and getting in the way of exercising (pilates, yoga) and couldn’t comfortably lie on my front. Still experiencing post hysterectomy fatigue – Alison ’ s story
I am now 7 months 2 weeks after my hysterectomy and still experiencing debilitating post hysterectomy fatigue. I had an emergency procedure and was not well enough to have it having had such severe bleeding, anaemia and admissions for blood transfusions in the weeks preceding. I was kept in hospital again on a third trip to A and E to stabilise a very high temperature and to have a hysteroscopy after a few days of being monitored. Radiation plus chemotherapy doesn't improve endometrial cancer recurrence-free survival
(Northwestern University) The standard of care for women with stage III/IVA endometrial cancer following surgery has been chemotherapy and radiation to prevent recurrence. But in a surprising new finding, radiation combined with chemotherapy did not increase recurrence-free survival in these women, reports a National Cancer Institute-sponsored study. Chemotherapy alone should now be the standard of care for stage III uterine cancer, the lead author said. This is the first study comparing the combined regimen to chemotherapy alone.
