Autoaugmentation Brachioplasty: An Arm Contouring Method in Women with Massive Weight Loss
ConclusionAugmentation of the upper arm by autologous dermofat flap provides a well arm contour in appropriate balance with the forearm in women having severe arm deflation deformity following MWL. The findings were supported by the objective anthropometric measurements of the MUAC/MFAC of a normal weight healthy women which reached to a mean value of 1.366. The normal girth of upper arm should equal 1\(\frac{1}{3}\) that of the forearm.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Circumferential Lipobrachioplasty Is a Safe Procedure
Conclusions: Simultaneous circumferential arm liposuction followed by brachioplasty addresses both the lipodystrophy and arm ptosis in a single hospital admission. This combination does not increase the complication rate. The results are highly satisfactory to the patients. According to the results of this study, circumferential arm lipobrachioplasty is considered to be a safe, efficient, reliable, and feasible procedure. The Role of Portable Incisional Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (piNPWT) in Reducing Local Complications of Post-bariatric Brachioplasty: A Case-Control Study
ConclusionThe piNPWT is a cost-effective and user-friendly medical tool that increase and promote wound healing. We suggest the use of this device in post-bariatric patients who undergo a brachioplasty, especially if there is the need to minimize the number of post-operative dressing changes.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Liposuction-assisted brachioplasty in breast cancer-related lymphedema: impact on volume reduction and quality of life.
There was no clear recommendation about surgical management of advanced breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). Liposuction combined with compression therapy is suggested as an effective approach to treat stage II lymphedema.1 However, lymph accumulation is associated with the activation of keratinocytes, fibroblasts and especially adipocytes that resulted in skin thickening and subcutaneous tissue fibrosis.2 Skin modifications could explain why, in our experience, liposuction is often inadequate in advanced BCRL stage II/III. Reply to: ‘Liposuction-assisted brachioplasty in breast cancer-related lymphedema: impact on volume reduction and quality of life’
We wish to commend the authors of “Liposuction-assisted brachioplasty in breast cancer-related lymphedema: impact on volume reduction and quality of life” on their objective analysis of their approach to patients with unilateral stage II BRCL. We agree with the authors’ combination approach to address both lymphedema and the r esultant skin excess. In our experience, we have found that without concurrent skin excision, the skin often does not retract sufficiently and can lead to wound healing complications. Retrospective analysis of the predictive factors associated with good surgical outcome in brachioplasty in massive weight loss patients.
CONCLUSION: The authors' technique resulted in positive outcomes overall, considering the difficulty in dealing with the problems of MWL patients. Based on our results, we aim to suggest to perform brachioplasty in patient with the lower achievable BMI (preferably <30kg/m2) to reduce the negative effect of unmodifiable factors as diabetes, modality of weight loss, a wide ΔBMI, and other well-known negative predictive factors. Is brachioplasty acceptable as an outpatient procedure? A prospective study comparing ambulatory and traditional hospitalization procedures.
CONCLUSION: Our prospective study shows that outpatient Extended L-shaped Lipo-brachioplasty safely provides the same outcomes as those performed during traditional hospitalization. We believe that for eligible patients, it should routinely be performed as an outpatient procedure. [Concomitant breast surgery with a vertical latero-thoracic incision in continuity with a brachioplasty incision: About twelve (12) cases after massive weight loss].
CONCLUSION: The extended lateral flank scar allows reducing the excess skin and subcutaneous tissue of the lateral chest wall, while being easily concealable. This technique offers an elegant solution to this excess that used to persist after multistage surgeries. A Cross-sectional Analysis of Insurance Coverage of Extremity Contouring After Massive Weight Loss
Conclusions We propose a comprehensive list of reporting recommendations to help optimize authorization of extremity contouring in the postbariatric population. There is great intercompany variation in preapproval criteria for brachioplasty and thighplasty, illustrating an absence of established recommendations or guidelines. High-level evidence and investigations are needed to ascertain validity of the limited coverage criteria in current use. (Source: Annals of Plastic Surgery)

The Posterior Arm Flap for Reshaping the Postbariatric Breast
Conclusions: PAF in breast contouring procedures is an interesting surgical option, but more patients need to be treated to validate the effectiveness of the procedure. This technique should be considered when there is a need for simultaneously improving arm’s contour and breast’s volume and shape. (Source: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open)
