Viruses, Vol. 15, Pages 881: Phylogeny of Shrew- and Mole-Borne Hantaviruses in Poland and Ukraine
erski Richard Yanagihara Earlier, we demonstrated the co-circulation of genetically distinct non-rodent-borne hantaviruses, including Boginia virus (BOGV) in the Eurasian water shrew (Neomys fodiens), Seewis virus (SWSV) in the Eurasian common shrew (Sorex araneus) and Nova virus (NVAV) in the European mole (Talpa europaea), in central Poland. To further investigate the phylogeny of hantaviruses harbored by soricid and talpid reservoir hosts, we analyzed RNAlater®-preserved lung tissues from 320 shrews and 26 moles, both captured during 1990–2017 across Poland, and 10 European moles from Ukr...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 4947: The Involvement in Domestic Violence and the Severity of Legal, Moral and Social Consequences for the Perpetrators in the Perceptions of Students in Poland and Belarus
kiewicz Domestic violence is sequential, developmental and dynamic. The aim of this study was to examine whether, in the perceptions of students in Poland and Belarus, there is a relationship between involvement in violence and the legal and social consequences for the perpetrators. A total of 482 university students took part in the study, including 251 students from Poland and 231 students from Belarus. Statistically, Polish respondents were more frequently involved in domestic violence as witnesses and victims, which was confirmed by χ2 test. Based on the 95% confidence interval (CI), it can be concluded...

Surgeons know that they don ’t know about the safe use of surgical energy: an international study reveals that the knowledge gap persists
ConclusionWe have identified alarming gaps in the knowledge of electrosurgical safety among surgeons. Faculty staff and experienced surgeons scored higher, but past training was the most influential factor in improving knowledge of electrosurgical safety. (Source: Surgical Endoscopy)

Projections of Lung Cancer Incidence by 2035 in 40 Countries Worldwide: Population-Based Study
CONCLUSIONS: LC incidence is expected to continue to increase through 2035 in most countries, making LC a major public health challenge worldwide. The ongoing transition in the epidemiology of LC highlights the need for resource redistribution and improved LC control measures to reduce future LC burden worldwide.PMID:36800235 | DOI:10.2196/43651 (Source: Cancer Control)

Hybridization between Pyrenophora teres Forms in Natural Populations of Russia and the Republic of Belarus
The objective of this work was to search Russian and Belarussian natural populations for hybrids between P. teres f. teres and P. teres f. maculata with the use of new form-specific markers, Ptt and Ptm. The study included 138 single-conidium isolates from four P. teres f. maculatа and four P. teres f. teres populations. The isolates were collected from commercial barley plantations of Leningrad oblast, Krasnodar krai (Russia), and Brest oblast (Belarus) from 2013 to 2016. A genotyping with 10 form-specific markers was performed in all isolates. Several isolates were found to combine markers of both of the P. teres forms ...
